I wouldn't be. The overheating issue is not widespread and not engine design related. If you look at the Thailand issue, it affects both Turbo and 1.8 models and my take is a shared part no cooling component failure.

The pic below is not of the 1.5T engine.

Just did my first 1000km service at Bandar Sri Damansara. Asked SC so far no overheat issue reported. My car got panel gap at driver side door but easily fixed at SC.

I just got my Civic x gen, 1.8 and after driving for a week now, there are a few things I'd like to know:

1. Is the headlights always on auto, can it be switched to manual i.e. on manually only?
2. Is there a panic button option on the remote key fob?
3. If I switched off the air cond will it auto turn on if I use the remote engine start?
4. At what angle / pitch would the hill assist kick in? If the slope is small, I may still need to either engage the handbrake or Brake Hold feature, won't I?

Hope someone out there have better experience and can advise. Thanks in advance.

Nothing to worry la brother.

So far, I really start putting some kmh into the car, never crossed the mid mark.
Love the fact that I can hit 160 without touching 3000 rpm

Only complaint is that the FC..... really far from advertised.
Maybe i got lead foot.

Windscreens always get chipped. And your insurance cover for the windscreen lapses even if u don't use it. So might as well use it.

I think there was a video before comparing factory installed windshields and replacement windshields. Factory installed windshields are purportedly able to lift the car's weight by itself.

So, i don't see the point of purposely breaking your windshields just to make the most of the insurance.

The insurance is just a betting game. If statistically you have managed to claim the windshield in your previous car multiple times. It might be worth having it. If not, just think of saving aside money spend for the premium of the windshield in case it breaks 4 or 5 years down the road.

Noted.

I've been replacing windscreens almost every year since 2004 on my previous cars. And I always get it done at the authorised service centre (Toyota and Kia). BMW will be a first for me in Dec this year. biggrin.gif

Isn't your Auto Brake Hold switched on always?

Anyway for everyone's info, the Auto Brake Hold on the Civic is surely a class above the BMW. Engages and releases very smoothly. You barely even know its there. rclxms.gif

Not sure if the bigger rims on the BMW make the difference. hmm.gif

That is a bit overkill right. I think they should introduce separate NCD for windscreen and hike up the premiums.

Not really, Its the chassis. Most cars are being designed lighter but sturdier.
