Long time never buy 4K Blu-ray.
Today grab two titles from Speedy promotion. smile.gif

Though can test out the Dolby Vision but just known my Panasonic DMP-UB400GAK not support of Dolby Vision even though my new TV LG C9 is support. Haha!

Interesting... that Bohemian Rhapsody is the UK version, and have never seen that Bumblebee packaging before.

What's the Speedy promotion for 4K? I know they've done 2 for RM199 in the past...

Finally I found a 4K UHD player that support Dolby Vision. Wonder should I buy or not.

Sony UBP-X700 - RM 1.3k at Harvey Norman.

So far this is the only 4K blu-ray player I can find in my area that support Dolby Vision. I didn't buy, next month just consider.

I have Panasonic UB400, picture quality is not as great as others. This UB450 is difficult to buy as not selling official locally and review also said picture quality is not as good as others. https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/panasonic-dp-ub450

HDR 10+ is useless for me as my TV is LG C9, LG will never add-in support of HDR 10+, same as Samsung will never add-in Dolby Vision support.

I think I better stick with Sony which had better review. smile.gif

I have asked this question to shops before, they don't know the answer. Region free players can be bought online, but they are kind of expensive. In the end I just settled getting a Samsung UBD-M8500 4K Bluray player from Best Denki. It's certainly NOT a region free Bluray player. At least for Bluray. I'm not sure if it has a region bypass code for DVD.

The sucky thing about buying the 4K Blurays from Speedy or that shop in 1 Utama is that they carry the US and UK releases, and they don't put any notice or warning to buyers. I bought the 4K Bluray version of Kingsman the Golden Circle last year during the KLIAV fair, and at that time I didn't have a 4K Bluray player yet. I thought I could watch the Bluray disc first, when I discovered the Bluray disc was region B. I did call Speedy HQ to ask whether I can return or exchange the title, but they said that people buy 4K Bluray titles for the 4K Bluray disc. So in the end I just had to hold on to it, until I ended up getting the 4K Bluray player above.

I check the box before, and as usual only 4K UHD Blu-ray is region free. Blu-ray wise is region A and DVD is region 3.

finally the BDA made a wise decision to drop the region-coding nonsense on its 4K UHD home media...

how sad to remember back then when dvd started the whole region-coding mess – i bought my then RM2.5k pioneer dvd player that couldn't play my RM135 US-imported R1 Terminator 2 Judgment Day dvd some 23 years ago!! just when i was excited like crazy jumping onto the so-called advanced new digital home media format and suddenly left me sleepless nights for days caused by this problem doh.gif laugh.gif

Ya, player quality is different on different price range, I read review just known about it. I had compare my remux copy with actual disc and notice Apple TV 4K had better video output compare with my value 4K UHD Player where have sometimes black crush issue. That the reason I plan to buy the Sony one, review is great with Dolby Vision support. smile.gif Anyway now want to buy also can't, need to wait end of 414, and please ended and no more extend, if continue everyone will suffer especially on economy part and also health issue, if extend means it is not safer.

Ya finally they drop the meaningless region in 4K UHD Blu-ray, but very funny is they still keep region locked even for new title release in Blu-ray.

Yup, we all must listen and stay at home to fight this virus and prevent further extend.

Now lets enjoy more movies during this stay at home period. smile.gif
