Yep same here. No way going to pay RM2.5k for an Asus, no matter what chip you use.

2k to 2.2k max is still acceptable. More than that, might as well get a Samsung

Sometime i am amazed by how closed minded and how idiot ppl think, like u.

U pay for what u get, if ur budget is only 2.2k, go get a zenfone 3 standard model, or a zenfone ultra, they are for u! I cant understand, Asus price zenfone deluxe for RM3.3k with snapdragon 821 and 6gb RAM, 23mp camera, everyone here making noise. While samsung s7 edge and note 7 have lower spec with price RM3200, no one complaint.

One brand used to sell devices at cheaper price doesnt mean they have to sell it at cheap price forever no matter what spec they use. Snapdragon 821 and 6gb RAM, so u expect a RM2k price tag?

there are always model for ur budget! Use ur brain and open ur mind!

The numbers will tell if asus got their pricing strategy right. For now there are more people who say they got on wrong rather than right.

USD479 at exchange rate of 4.3 plus 6% GST is only RM2183 but retailing for 2599.

This is pure malaysia pricing strategy that is over ambitious, greedy or what ever you call it.

At pure RRP * exchange rate and even add GST, the prices reflect an ASUS brand price range but 2599 to me is not Asus brand price range.

Sometime specs are just numbers, without right implementation could hamper the real potential.. for instance, the camera, 23mp but i still doubt it will be better than 12mp found on S7e/Note 7 or even matching iphone 6s camera.

Brands popularity comes with user experience.. why people don't mind paying more for iphone? Or samsung? Bcoz they hv faith that their money will be well spent.

With all that said, if Asus made it right, user review will justify the price, and later people might turn to it.

Quoted from gsmarena.com on their article on 30th May during Asus launched:

"Prices start at $249 for the ZenFone 3, $499 for the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, and $479 for the ZenFone 3 Ultra"

If direct convert still consider not as expensive as Malaysian price.. Dunno why the big price difference..
*
and the $479 is for the 4GB/64GB, same with the version launch in malaysia.
QUOTE
The ZenFone 3 Ultra will be available in mid-June in Taiwan, Asia Pacific, the EU and China. There's no word on US availability for now. It will cost $479 (converting to around £330, AU$670) for the 4GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage model, with prices increasing for models with more storage
src: http://www.cnet.com/products/asus-zenfone-3-ultra/

Based on the latest gsm page:

http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_releases_the_...-news-19813.php

zenfone 3 ultra is MYR 2,599 ($645). which is $166 increased, 34.65% price hiked
if it was $479, we can get it around RM2000 doh.gif

Brand is one thing to distinguish the price.

Asus is not yet that level for such high price, at least not in mobile market yet.

Previously, people didn't think that Huawei was an above RM2k brand too, so perhaps Asus looked at Huawei and decided if the competitor can do it with some degree of success, so can they. But I agree, I wouldn't pay above RM2k for an Asus either.

rm3.3k for FHD screen only is quite expensive for an android hp, note 7 offer better screen, waterproof, and stable system, and brand..

not to mention that 3k battery for that price aint gonna cut it..might as well get a note 7(much compact)

Well Malaysian market is currently dominated by 2 major brand.. Apple & Samsung.. These two command some premium pricing.. Others brands also playing catch up..

But Asus is being too ambitious in the price.. They should take it slowly.. Now u see have some backlash..

You fail to grasp what most people have issue here.

If Zenfone 3 Deluxe sells for the same price as other countries, no one will have issue with it.

But only in Malaysia, they have the nerve to add RM600+ on top of the actual price to screw everyone here.

Don't forget Samsung and apples aftersales and service center availabilities in Malaysia too. Asus's logistic and nationwide reach stills far from them.
Huawei offers one to one exchange for certain models. Even one time screen replacement if cracked
