Installation / Update instructions:

1. Download the update file
2. Extract
3. Create "dload" folder at the root level of the memory card (internal or external).
4. Copy Update.app in the folder "dload"

As Huawei has removed the item "Local Update" from the update program, you must do the following:

Option 1 Update Mate by ForceUpdate
1. off device
2. Power + Volume down until the update starts

Option 2: About Service
1. in dialer * # * # 2846579 # * # * Enter
2. In menu 4 - Software Upgrade, and then select sdcard Upgrade

During installation, the phone will restart

Hmm..I checked - but not all apps are in there - Gmail is not there for example...the default huawei mail , whatsapp, line, wechat etc is there..but not gmail

One thing I realized also - which i forgot based on my Honor 7 experience is when you make any changes to Huawei phones, especially notifications is - reboot the phone for the settings to take effect.

I'm wondering if you have the gmail option under Ignore Batt optimization - I don't see gmail on my list for some reason...but it is working fine....so far

Under option 1 : I always press down power n both VOL buttons. When first boot up release only power button. Release both VOL buttons once you see emui logo

Ah! finally bought a 64GB GOLD version after sold of my 32GB Black for quite sometimes ago. Damage RM500.

Haven't gone to B180 yet - working on my notifications issue on B170 - seem to finally nail it so far...

As far as B180 goes - read that the default 3G/4G network connection display on the status bar is gone now if you turn on Wireless...is that true?

Also feedback from XDA mentions that battery life is not as good as B170 ?

I had never seen the 3g/4g display even on its first firmware till b170 n b180 with WiFi on. So I had never missed such a feature
Similarly too for my previous China set
Battery life I don't see any significant difference w b170

Actually I drainer the battery to 0% and then recharged up till 100%- it took me it close to 3 hours to reach 100% and not 2.5 hours as stated - this is using Original Huawei fast charger and also ori cable...

Next time, i'll drain to 0% and try one of my 5V 2.4 amp charger and see whats the results

B180 should address the notification issue ... they say
i do have the 3G/4G on my network eventhough on wifi

FYI Benny - B170 firmware - 4g network connection shown while I'm on wireless...

Mine on b170 will show 4g connection even using wifi.
But after update to b180, if connected to wifi no more 4g shown.

On nexus devices, whenever in wifi there wont be any 3g/4g shown

I think the HDR mode is pretty good. Saturation is kind of neutral.

Are you basing your results on Nexus or Mate 8....

on my Nexus there wont be the indicator but on mate 8 b170 there is ... havent update to b180 yet

As said clearly I had never ever seen such on my set since day one. So I don't miss it

Yes ... on B180 the 4g/3g indicator is gone while on wifi which is not a big deal
