Big deal for me when you're using 2 sims - where it will allow me to differentiate which sim is on 2G or 4G - allows me to differentiate the network - I know network name is shown on the left corner - maybe just me being picky when there feature is there since day 1

dude on wifi ... the data will use only wifi for internet ... if not on wifi it will show indicator and u can always set it on sim manager

i am using 2 sims and yes u can see on the Left side also

Ok i already tested. This phone has problems reading the micro sd card fast. This msd card i hv been using all the while and had no probs with other phones .

I chg default storage to internal memory and now got no lag when sending pics.

The moment i chg to micro sd card, its kinda hangs for 3 seconds whenever i send a screenshot or pics thru whatsapp.

Have not used Micro SD card yet - 64GB to me is enough and i need dual sim. But nice to know the limitation - thanks for the feedback

Usually i recharge whenever it reached about 10%. It took less than 2.5 hours to charge back up to 100%. Not very fast but acceptable for its 4000mAh battery size. Just recorded 6.5 hours SOT with more than 32 hours on battery. Impressive battery life.


The msd card is class 10 or? Try with good msd card?

Have you tried the Huawei Service center ? i heard they sell Nexus 6P chargers there - at a decent price of RM35...wondering if this is the same?

Aiya that day went to service centre forgot to ask. RM35 is very good price for fast charger. Especially since mate 8 don't compatible with most generic fast charger. Hopefully it will be priced around there. I think most huawei reseller can buy. Got chance go ask haha.

Both my Aukey fast charger (2.4A) n Lvsun fast charger(3A output) works well charging the Mate8

I would say quite close probably only about 15 mins difference?
Anyway I am not too concerned how fast it charges as I only charge my phone once and is during bedtime at about 11pm n leave it on till next morning

Eh if the differences are minimal, getting those fast chargers is a good alternative as well. I usually don't leave phone to charge overnight, haha my habit. My working nature required traveling so sometimes I use GPS pretty heavy and use wifi hotspot for my laptop. If previous day I din't charge full, next day I might required a bit of recharge towards the end of the day.

I tried to charge it using those normal charger, it's quite slow. Use huawei charger for 30mins, the battery can last me another few hours.

U guys not bothered by no notification on lockscreen and no screen on when notification arrives while using fingerprint/pattern/pin to unlock? i certainly am.

Feel insecure with simple swipe to unlock

Personally I simply hate such stuffs appearing on lockscreen.
I always want my lockscreen simple n neat
Such notification remind me of my iPhone which I simply hate to see
So I do not miss it

Is this what the reason is when notifications don't come in until I turn on the phone...I thought for whatsapp it does turn on the screen when notifications come in?

Only I for my push email - I don't sometimes get notification until screen is unlocked via fingerprint...didn't realize until you mentioned so....need to test a bit...

Are you mentioning only screen does not turn on and the email does not display on the locked screen ? Or no notification sounds even?

Email as well? Whatsapp and Line work fine for me.I'm using Blue mail for my email client I noticed this doesn't turn on the screen when notifications come in. Default Huawei email client works fine. But unfortunately I don't like the default mail client compared to Bluemail. I need to test further.

I'm afraid it's not. I charged with Aukey charger this morning, the current going in was 1.8A. Last time I tried, it's charging at 1A. Yesterday I was charging using Aukey powerbank, it was charging at 1.5A. It's somehow random. But with stock charger, it's consistent at 2.2A. Though there's one post on XDA saying QC3 charger is almost as fast as stock charger.
