hello all..

I bought Compaq V3616 finally back during Raya holiday.. Cost is RM2450. Free 2GB (667) DDR2 RAM and many other free gift & gadgets.

I use CPU-Z to check out my processor details and motherboard driver revision. The processor which uses AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 has a clock speed of 2 Ghz. But sadly it still uses 90nm (Trinidad) revision. But the socket is S1 means there are posibilities for processor upgrade to 65nm (tyler).

My friend is using V3614 and it has the Turion TL-58 (1.9Ghz) 65nm based. U can also see the review of V3614in lowyat site.

Graphics is IGP and Shared Memory (256MB max). Anyway I did tuned up for maximum. I installed both XP & Vista in it. Infact I even tried KUBUNTU Linux and it work well. This Laptop is quite awesome. I basically bought them for work though I am a PC gamer freak, which so far played :

1. Counter Strike CZ - smooth
2. PirateKing Online - also smooth (Lucky internet no lag)
3. Warcraft 3 - smooth (as well as Dota)
4. The Sims Makin Magic - Loading time damm fast!!
5. Sims 2 - smooth
6. Mo Siang - smooth but boring
7. PerfectWorld Online - cant play coz Closed Beta is over + few delays (But I m optimistic it can be played).

I know for some of u may think that I am quite outdated for playing these kind of games but then again, atleast it still entertain me

Playing Movies also quite good.. I installed K-Lite Mega Codec which allows me to play as many video formats (eg. RM, MKV, Divx, Flv..etc..). I also did some video editing and it was quite good.. As for graphics editing I used Photoshop CS3 and it was tumbs up!

Oh not to mention, If u all want a good performance on the laptop, then u have to update the driver from time after time. I think can obtain from nvidia for the IGP and chipset driver. By updating it, u'll have a smoother operations.

Overall, If you want to have a Cost-saving dual-core processor notebook, go for AMD Turion X2 (TL-58 onward version) notebook. Its not bad compared to Intel C2D (still costly! even the non-santa rosa type).

Anyway the only problems about compaq V3000 notebook is the position of the Hard Disk which lies on the left of the palm rest area. Though I didn't face the problems, but when the HDD is fully optimized, your left palm will feel the heat and unconfortable. But the solution is of couse to use the laptop cooler. I had 1 and it really helps a lot..

V3000 Is really a nice series from compaq..i'm working at Sri com and selling laptop,until now that no any problem for V3000

i got problem with the keyboard..

The keyboard like got the spring problem.. But sometime its ok..

And the nview option..(nvidia 6150) if often change it, it will cause problem.. I had tested it..

Keyboard Spring problem?? Tough luck my friend.. Or maybe u press too hard?

I m not so sure for nvidia 6150, since I m using nvidia 7150m.. But what I can say is that 7150m performance is very good (Well of cos compared to 6150 and X3100). However I m not sure if I am right. What is the latest driver for nvidia 7150m/630m chipset & display?? Any ideas guys?

If only the integrated support DirectX 10, it would be very nice

Added on November 13, 2007, 9:10 pmpress hard? no la.. i press it soft.. somemore its not the key that used to play game. So far it only happen to numeric key and right shift key. The keyboard need press for quite sometime then it will back to normal.

I think its almost same(i mean the software function)
U able to change brightness, gamma and contrast. Last time i often change the setting there. And after that my graphic driver need to remove... But after quite sometime.. remove driver cannot fix it anymore.. i need to re-install whole driver(chipset... bla bla..)

Then i thought its window problem so i try re-format.. and it no more come out.. till 1 time.. it come out again.. finally i found out its the setting i change. Then i try not change it anymore and it never happen again

p/s I had call HP before but the answer they given ....

only hot when u charging...if u not charging or just use AC power,it won;t be hot...

who wan to buy extra battery ? i lappie was stolen.... but left the battery with me.. just 3 months old.. but charge not more then 10 times bcoz i always use in home. Selling price Rm 200 if wan kindly pm me.. is from V3415 model.

Ur hot is how many Celcius? Is normal but dont over 100C la of course.

why?? 100C mean it melt?? dont confused with the water boiling point la...

hey i wanna ask.. my lappy is V3203TU, i got it about 7mths ago, and now i got problem with my screen...

sumtimes if i move my screen up or down, da screen can go white(as in totally white).. so dats why i haf to move and adjust it until i can see a proper image.. so wat to do now arr??? shud i send it in for warranty??? wat is da problem with this actually?? and if i send for warranty, wat will they do arr??? will they replace a new one???

that key for fast launch a program.

The program u also can set it.

But if your computer are on turn off mode, it will power on with pressing that button and u able to play dvd movie without booting the window(only got this option if bundle with window or u installed the program somewhere)

i got 2 compaq laptop. both of them from v3000 series.

my xp laptop got problem with its wireless. it kinda weak in receiving the signal even though the wireless router was 3-4 meters away. i gotta keep refresh it until i found the signal. eventhough i got the signal. the speed is slow. on the other hand, my vista laptop easily connected to the wireless and i able to surf websites faster than the xp laptop.

i lodged a complain to hp compaq but no reply so far. still under warranty.

now my v3628 is in empty mode
i inserted windows cd as usual to cd boot install windows
den it says hdd cannot be detected
why is that?

I've been using compaq laptop for more than 3 months already. bought on 13 Aug 2007...model V3415 AU...

well, untill now this lappy is still serving me well and i am satisfied with the hardware quality.

Good quality with a good price tag...value for money

The only FLAW on this lappy i noticed is only the HEAT problem!!

as for now, im doing my job and surfing low yat.net without a cooler pad, the HDD temp is 55C and the CPU is 60C....it's really hot when i touch on the bottom of this lappy...

it's even worst when u burn a DVD or CD...skyrocketed to 70++C even with cooler pad....i dont think cooler pad has something to do with this and cooler pad only helps a lil bit...

anyone come out with a solution for compaq laptop heat problem?

i open up the RAM and HDD part of this lappy and i found that the heat sinking design is kinda not practical...it's too covered up and very few exits for heat....feels like poking some holes behind it sometimes..ahahah....

anyone has a solution plaese kindly share it here.....im quite annoyed with the heat problem already...

for the 1st time im using my wireless.. it also got some problem.. even i can scan the wireless, but i cant connect it. I try another model v3000 series.. it can without any problem.

Then i change the setting it connected.. then i change back.. it disconnect.. wondering what wrong was that.. but after used for quite a time.. now my lappy wifi didnt has the problem..
