well, went thru the whole crappy ipod skinning thing ... maybe i'm not used to the interface but i hate it ... the slide to unlock and wizbar programs are pretty nice though, slide to unlock - looks pretty and cool but probably not very functional. uninstalled everyhting and went back to the wm5 interface. In case anyone is looking, here is the link to the famous/infamous iphone_wm5.zip file. ://rapidshare.com/files/40616826/ApplePieRecipe.rar.html password pieisgood i'ld say not to waste your time though..... sigh 2 hours i'ld never get back. |

To reduce the heart attack due to the falling price of P535..something to share on the review done below...Very Powderfull PDA..
sofpedia comparison chart on P535 vs others.... BTW to share my latest battery life saving..a suprise to me too...Last charged Saturday Nite fully charged by Midnite....Use for mild (<1hr) navigation on Sunday, swithed to Turbo mode Yesterday & now battery still show 25%...wow....my backlight is always at 28% brightness... @ klmc: I also think that the slide unlock mechanism is of a novelty function, especially with P535's on/off switch that is not so easily accidentally clicked. On the other hand, the flick scrolling of info e.g. contacts is a boon imo but is that function present in the skinning application?
Speaking of battery, i only have one phrase for it...it only gets better. I remember the 1st 2 days using it, it was like "omg, the pda swallows battery for fun" as it was out of juice in less than 3 quarter of the day, was so dulan thinking to myself so what if it has powerful cpu but dun hv the juice to power it. 3 months down the road plus the article Stimix linked up, i've to say the cpu really makes the best of the could-have-higher-capacity battery. Just as a general observation for my type of daily usage i.e. avg of 10-15 sms, 30-45 mins calls, 15-30 mins WiFi, 15-30 mins for rojak things..on turbo mode & 57% brightness, i'll be left with about 20+% battery from a full charge, which is good judging that all processes are snappy. One could probably retain up to 30% battery level on Auto Mode or better yet with power saving mode. As for me, I'm just enjoying the raw powar of the device all the time... Cheers y'all. |

Strik3....U probably getting better battery life if u keep the brightness to 28% or 2 bars...
BTW..probably another GREAT NEWS.....yet to confirm as I'm waiting reply from ASUS.....seems like ASUS oledi released WM6 upgrade few days ago!!! (To be precise..3/7/07!..i.e earlier than D810!)..Check this out...(But beware..there are diff versions of France, Thai, HK, Taiwan & International?....) WM6 Upgrade??? Anyone try b4 Added on July 10, 2007, 12:34 pmOpss after reading the Asus Forum..Looks like the V4.7.0 is actually ROM update b4 WM6..They have released French, Thai, HK & Taiwan version but I think English version within this few days.... BTW, I realised that my ROM is V4.3.0 ...din update it since I bot the phone..Is it wise to update directly to V4.7.0 and skips earlier release in Mar'07?? @strik3 > uninstalled the slide to lock, the asus hardware keypad lock works better i think. Yes to the scrolling contact list - that was cool too... but after spending many many minutes assigning photos to all my contacts in photocontacts pro, i wasnt about to give up on it ... so thereby all the cool cool things in the mod/skin wasn't very useful to me... @Stimix > the WM6 upgrade is not out yet , I think - those that are out are for france / portugal i think ... still have to wait ... and with regards to the softpedia site > why on earth do people keep on harping on the p535's supposedly not so nice design ? I think it looks great .. bloody sleek as compared to the dopod's rounded edges.... |

@ klmc: Thats a pity, hehe. You know what, I view the harping on P535's "not so nice" design on a brighter side. Other than not having 3G/EDGE, which it wasn't meant to be such a phone anyway, it excels beautifully in its own class. With that in mind, it is obvious that it WORKs PERFECTly by far and that those who lament its design are probably those who thought it could look better in their eyes. Main thing is, nothing was said about lousy performance nor crappy built quality and those who bought it must be happy especially those who love the design i.e. KLMC...hehe.
In any case, design and looks are subjective after all, each to his own imo. More waiting for WM6, sigh. How nice if I could read french...lol. |

i find this interesting:-
QUOTE Lately, Asus P535 comes with Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system pre-installed and has some specifically developed applications and functions. You'll be amazed with how many extra-menus and functions the Today screen shows. if the new ones already have WM6, how come they have not release the rom for others...... |

New user reporting in!
![]() I've read that some of you got the external antenna for GPS. How does it look like and how much would it cost? I got my 6110 Navigator to work in my V-Kool protected car, but somehow couldn't get the P535 to detect any signal. Sigh... Thanks. |

@Strik3..SirfIII chipset although superior to others interm of accuracy of the recorded tracks as what I compare between my old HP6515 (Globallocate), but acquiring satelite seems to me abit slow too..probably bcos no AGPS system (U need to download every 7 days of current satelite locations via internet if u used Globallocate chipset)...Probably Nokia is using another chipset as wel but I hv not seen the accuracy of the tracklog if plotted using mapedit or mapsource....Anyway..there will be another huge tt of >20 ppl Tonite at AmanSuria..so probably can show to Sony how the antenna works...So got ur antenna oledi??
BTW..it really sickening waiting for WM6 upgrade....1 Asus owner from Sweden hv even resorted to download the Thai Version succesfully....Hmnnn Anyone wanted to try.... |

@ stimix: Interesting. The AGPS sounds mafan to use leh. I rather wait for a bit than to DL sat locations every 7 days. I've yet to buy the antenna, waiting for the fren who came with me that day to confirm his decision. I think the MCX smaller antenna package is ok right? I've totally no idea which is suitable and which is not. Wat ya think?
