QUOTE(tester1979 @ Jun 30 2007, 02:12 AM) @ klmc Once in a while...I think it is due to my itchy hand tweaking the registry to make the PDA run faster than normal...FYI..I managed to tweaked until it took me only 6S to start-up Garmin after GPS proxy, which I think u all getting about 20S!! hmm.....good to hear that you could get it to work.....if not.....you might want to look here. this is the config i am using:- http://www.malsingmaps.com/forum/modules.p...er=asc&start=15 posted it in malsingmaps forum.... @ stimix hey....you still have the gpsproxy shutdown issue as you mentioned in malsingmaps forum above? The problem only happened when I used Mapking and then swithed to Gps Proxy/Garmin...Once Garmin startup, proxy automatically shut down!! & I hv to soft reset b4 I can run it again...Well this only happened once in a while...but small price to pay for faster processing... yay ... finally got it to work over the weekend .... now just have to get used to the interface .. finding places in garmin sure is odd ... or maybe i'm just used to mapking ... so used to the 3d mapping of the mapking -its a bit hard to get into garmin ....
my problem was the gpsproxy 2.2a ... MUST patch the baudrate correction files in order to rectify the "GPS Port Error: UART Error: Framing" problems ... all the other settings as recommended work fine for the asus p535. Haha , perfectly happy with the asus, ... will be delirious if somehow theres a secret flap to uncover a hidden infrared port ... |

@klmc
he he he....i was searching for the infrared too at first but then realised later the p535 dun have it ......... anyway.....i know there is the 3d version of garmin.....some people actually manage to get it working with the other mapping softwares installed.....just haven't got the time to experiment with it yet..... @stimix..... but i do get about 6s or less sometimes when I opened my garmin.....and I did not tweak the registry....not all the time though..... after a few years of playing with pda, my formula for fast loading is this:- - install the important software first so that they are installed on the earlier blocks of memory/flash. I installed garmin and gpsproxy right after installed some important today plugins - I installed garmin and gpsproxy on the device, not storage card - no unnecessary program running in the background - i switched the processor to Turbo. sometimes when I leave it at Auto also will give the same results. mind sharing what registry changes you made? hey - aren't u supposed to take it back to the place u bought it from to get it flashed ? So that warranty won't void if u screw it up doing it yourself ?

Guys,
The car tint i had installed is blocking the GPS signals so now i cant get any signal within the car. Any work around this? maybe e.g. re-radiating unit or external antenna? Pls pls pls tell me there's a workaround...if not...sigh. |

QUOTE(klmc @ Jul 3 2007, 11:46 AM) hehhh it would seem that the better tints eg vcool does really block out more of the sun UV and whatever else rays more effectively than other cheaper tints.... BTW Vcool do have the lower Infra red penetration film too....can't remember which type..either type 70 or 75... I used Vcool 97% anti IR in my ex-car and damn leceh..everytime going thru Smart & Go pole u have to wind down window & point the tag to the pole...defeit the purpose of having smartag! |

@ stimix : Sorry if i'm being unclear. The thing is i cant use GPS bcz cant get a fix in my car now since i tinted it, i think its called SafeTint or something lidat.
You mentioned that fixing an external antenna would increase satelite reception and accuracy, which is awesome...but what about actually receiving reception based on my situation, where i dont get a fix? |

Wah safetint having maximum infrared block too You mentioned that fixing an external antenna would increase satelite reception and accuracy, which is awesome...but what about actually receiving reception based on my situation, where i dont get a fix? Check first,,probably system hang cannot be discounted... * unless u cut a hole at the windscreen & place the GPSr close to this hole....No joke someone done this b4!!! & even if u call PLUS h/way they will advised u to cut the hole too (I called them b4! |
