how to secure this?

The IP seems to be from Chile, you need to alter the default login, and most importantly to upgrade to latest router firmware.

Get a reliable hardware firewall if it involves more critical security issues.

Thanks.

Asking in this thread.

I'm cancelling my Time/Astro IPTV because I felt I'm being ripped with 10Mb/s for RM149 and Astro contents are repetitive and doesn't appeal to me.

Question:
Going to change to 100Mb/s but I heard they are giving the Huawei/D-link combo but I'm on the Linksys router and to my amaze I love the router....it doesn't hang since 3 years ago and I have not shut down for the past 3 years.

Will Huawei/D-link modemrouter is as stable as the Linksys I'm using or recommended to go for Asus?
*
Hi Bro,

If 3 years ago you would be using Linksys E1200/1000 Router...

The current Dlink DIR850L definitely outperforms it...apart of the signal drop for larger house just like many other same range Router does, so far we have not encounter much major instability issue.

If you are going for replacement, it is best to let us know your intended coverage area and your budget.

If you are looking at Asus models, RT-AC68U is a good choice seeing price drops lately.

Thanks.

Ok thanks for the recommendation, yeah I will look into that.

At the mean time I already booked an appointment with TIME to come over for the installation.

Do you think they will configure for me if I buy my own router?
*
Hi,

For standard procedure, they will only configure devices that supplied by TIME.
For your own device, they can configure for you at their own willingness by charging RM80.
If you need help configuring your router, pm or whatsapp me.
Thanks.

Hi, I'm wondering is there any chance to find out the progress of coverage availability of my high rise. the customer service just followed up half way and then they totally ignored my email. I do received a call from coverage team telling me if they will cover my area or not after my management submit the approval form but no more news from them. I had waited my request since year 2012. Nearby Building which surrounding my areas all of them had been fabricated years ago even the new building but not mine.

I do commented in TIME facebook page and submitted interest form almost every day. No news too.

I'm from Relau, Penang. Apartment name is Taman Seri Sari.

Guys, I just installed my 100MBps and noticed that the stock router that TIME supplied comes with dual band, 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz.

Apparently, connected to 5.0GHz yield faster speed but the problem with this stock router is that the coverage is week.

I was using an Asus RT N12HP router and when I replaced it, only one access point appeared and I'm guessing it's the 2.4GHz because it reflects so on the router setting page.

Is there any router equivalent to the RT N12HP that gives out 5GHz?
*
Hi,

How big is your unit? You may pm me if you need a proper wifi coverage design.

For your reference, you may go for the followings (supports 5GHz) and good coverage:

TPLink
1) Archer C7
2) Archer C9
3) C3200
4) Higher end models.

Asus
1) RT-AC55U
2) RT-AC66U
3) RT-AC68U
4) Higher end models.

Thanks.

Hi,

Go for Asus RT-AC68U or TP-Link C3200.

laugh.gif those are like commercial/industrial quality right =O they are priced within the RM800 - RM1,000.00 region =O

For lower budget, go for Asus RT-AC66U (bit harder to find) or TP-Link Archer C9 / C7.

Thanks.

No feedback?

Hi Bro,

Try to perform a LAN speedtest again by hooking in a Cat5e/Cat6 network cable to your router.
-- make sure you are not running any downloads during the test.
-- make sure the test is local Malaysian server (preferably those located in KL)
-- make sure your PC/Laptop that is used for testing has Gigabit port.

If all the above still does not give you expected speed, please perform a direct ONU test.

If it fails again, then we need to proceed with further checking.

hye guys,
TIME broadband finally arrived at our condo and mind telling us, why should we get TIME and ditch UNIFI now?
FYI, we're still under contract after renew it for "free upgrade" to 30Mbps, LOL.

apart from fast 100Mbps, is it 100Mbps DL/UL?

thank you in advance
*
Very obvious reasons, price cheaper, higher bandwidth for both download and upload...(symetrically) ...

You may go for Time Easy Switch plan if your current Unifi is still under contract.

Thanks.

Hi,

You are required to provide your latest bill to your agent.
Do check with him/her, should be able to assist you.

Pls also be aware that if you have Hypetv installed..there will be extra penalty charges on top of the RM500...pls verify with your current provider.

Thanks.

For the guys with 300mbps, how much wifi speed are you getting in speedtest with the dir850l?
*
Assuming within the range of 5m, tested with MacBook Air,

2.4GHz : 6x--8xMbps
5GHz : 25x --29xMbps

Thanks.

I just live in a 700sqf apartment. When connect via the cable can easily reach 96-98mbps which is almost near full speed but if wifi which is only at 30mbps. Is a powerful router e.g RT-AC68U capable to help to achieve full speed even connected via wifi? BTW, I am a new 100mbps TIME subscriber.
*
Is your Router ZTE H298N or Dlink DIR850L ?
If its Dlink DIR850L, connecting via 5GHz band, you will be able to achieve almost full speed within the efficient range.

Asus RT-AC68U is overkill for your case.

Thanks.

Hi, all,

Just want to ask, for TIME 100 Mbps customers, which router is better: D-Link DIR 850L to Xiaomi Router 3 (http://www.mi.com/miwifi3/)?

Our place is about 1000 sq ft, and the main usage will be in the living room, which is < 10 meters away. Main usage is streaming (youtube, drama, etc.) and a little bit of file sharing (external HDD on the router's USB port).

Note that we only have the two choices above for now.
Thanks.
-stndn.
*
Hi,

Each of them has its own strength.

In terms of wireless power transmission, MiRouter 3 outperforms DIR850L.
But unlike DIR850L, MiRouter 3 does not comes with Gigabit port, your incoming bandwidth will be bogged down.

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm assuming if we're only using it on 100 Mbps subscription line, the gigabit port won't make much difference going from the modem to the router, right? This is because although the WAN port can go beyond 100 Mbps on D-Link, TIME will still limit it up to 100 Mbps?
Also, from the router to the house (LAN), we'll only be using wifi for file sharing, so the LAN ports won't be used.
Thanks.
-stndn.
*
If for 100Mbps package, it's not so worrying, but bear in mind the actual WAN-LAN throughput mayb lower than 100Mbps..
If you don't mind a bit drawn down by the actual bandwidth, it's a good bucks to buy !

For internal wifi devices transfer, it's fine.

I'm contemplating to switch to Time as Unifi is really bad and my building has Time service. The reason I chose Unifi earlier because I could use the existing telephone ports in the condo while Time may need to have some drilling.

Can someone share information on the installation of Time internet with me as the room that I wish to have it installed is quite far from the main door?
*
The common Installation method : A small drilled hole maybe needed and the 2C fibre cable will be glued at the edge of the wall or floor skirting...

We need to take a look at your unit to actually propose the best solution for you.

Please pm/whatsapp me to proceed.

Thanks.

i registered with TIME a few days back.
i would like to know whether TIME will only do installation during work days or possible during the weekend as well?

in my apartment, broadband fibre point is already installed in each unit. i think the installer only need to connect fibre wire to the modem from the point.
*
Bro, you need to check with your building management.

Some apartments allow Installation on Saturday morning, some don't.
