shinjite, faster core and more RAM on your system should have a smoother experience than before.Anyway, you ES sample good in o/c or not? 3.43GHz i is the highest you can go ?

3.4GHz with 2GB ram running vista should be quite smooth.

QUOTE(kabukiawie @ Mar 22 2007, 08:45 AM) most probably it is. hmm..should be that lah right. QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Mar 22 2007, 09:11 AM) kabukiawie, you are using the stock heatsink on your Asus mobo right? I found that during loading, the passive heatsink might be a bit hot. even with slight oc my mobo's nb heatsink feels quite hot |

My ES sample? Hmmm....not bad ler, but my batch here not the latest in its class, so probably 3.5-3.6Ghz loh. More than that need a lot of voltage to stabilise, Northwood mah, not prescott so can't scale high. My 3.43Ghz stable at 1.52V-1.54V, stupid board flunctuate only QUOTE(kabukiawie @ Mar 22 2007, 09:49 PM) 3.4GHz with 2GB ram running vista should be quite smooth. yup, its smooth for Vista, my ES not stuck at 3.4Ghz ler, still can go higher 1just that 24/7 use 3.43Ghz ler, good enough liao |

QUOTE(pengster @ Mar 22 2007, 10:42 PM) hmm..should be that lah right. just put a fan to cool it down. Better bring cool air from outside. I tried put a 60mm fan on it and it get hotter than passive. finally i realized d fan just absort hot air from hfs and blow on it. now it get cooler coz my xp120 cover half on ots top. free cooling on it. even with slight oc my mobo's nb heatsink feels quite hot QUOTE(shinjite @ Mar 22 2007, 11:05 PM) My ES sample? So just oc a bit for more juice than stock. i dont think 100-200MHz more wont really notice the different in real life. I used 3GHz for 1year+ and currently rise up to 3.15GHz, hardly motice the different. only slightly better score in benchmark. yup, its smooth for Vista, my ES not stuck at 3.4Ghz ler, still can go higher 1 just that 24/7 use 3.43Ghz ler, good enough liao |

real life even a 4Ghz won't give you any difference, the amount of RAM and HDD speed will
Your proc speed will taken into account for encoding, games, benchmark, rendering and etc |

i rather get more hdd space and ram instead of 100-200mhz more oc. But mine at stock it really slow....haha.....

Nice to see ppl having ES proc. But if eg a 3GHz proc wants to acheive 3.5GHz i think it's preety easy.Just get a pair of good RAM sure you can do it.Meawhile, faster processing power does not differ in small applications but in gaming it will be having a lot of difference especially after o/c. FSP can increase a lot.

Yup, due to more clock cycles = more rendering performance
kabukiawe : don't compare at 3Ghz, compare it at 2.4Ghz itself |

Agree,if comparing 2.4GHz with 3GHz.That's a lot of difference. You can totally feel that the system itself is smoother and faster a lot even you just having 512MB RAM with you.Faster clock more powerful in randering process.

yala.
400MHz++ oc will notice the different, less than that it doesnt make any big changes. Thats what i feel. shinjite, 4ghz may be different story. hoho |

If using 4GHz to to daily life work like excel, word, playing songs will be very fantastic.A 4GHz proc can easily handle them will just minor processing power.Meanwhile we can open up more apllications and play Carbon at the same time without feeling slow or lag.

normal office use and some mp3 listening will be a little waste on 4ghz as even a 2GHz p4 or a duron/Athlon system can handle it quite well promise that ram is enough. If for playing games, 4ghz really shine.
I stop play game after my 98pro KO, now just use pc for normal office use, watch anime, mp3ing. So 3ghz is quite responsive for me. |

so i do agree normal p4 is good enough for daily usage. using stock 1.7GHz p4, we can really fully utilise it becoming HTPC too. (music + movies) This post has been edited by edministrator: Mar 23 2007, 04:13 PM |

actually all our P4 systems still can go on for a long time..as long as you're not doing any really intense gaming lah.like all those new games eg.crysis, prey etc
even now my 2.4 is bottlenecking my 6800GS |

just found out that my rig is silent as a sleeping baby when i changed the my Zalman FS-C77 fan header from 12V to 5V while maintaining under 45C full load. very happy...haha..
Question: By controlling the fan speed, will it affect the fan's lifespan, since its not running in optimum speed/voltage? This post has been edited by edministrator: Mar 23 2007, 10:24 PM |
