865 & 875 perform better due to the 800FSB support, and of course matured chipset quality compared to previous 845 and below.

QUOTE(shinjite @ Mar 21 2007, 06:52 PM) But all of these happened years ago.Now less and less ppl using S478 mobos as most of them are going in to C2D. Thus the S478 mobo now can be said very cheap already, even the perofrmance mobo. |

As i have mention early, here is the what i can achieve currently. Just that the ram timing has to be lossen to 2.5-4-4-8 in order to get to 250Mhz.
Initial testing at 250Mhz with 2.5-3-3-8 return an immediate error in SP2004 eventhou the VDimm is set ranging between 2.6-2.8V. I think im getting a bad pair of ram coz comparing my previous Partriot can hit 250Mhz flawlessly at 2.5-3-3-8 with juz 2.65V. Aslo i notice that the board have a very bad voltage flunctuation. The 1st column is set in BIOS while the 2nd column is read in ABITEQ. Im not sure whether ABITEQ is the culprit or not. VCore 1.525V 1.55V VDimm 2.7V 2.76V And one question, how to enable PAT in this board? Haha. This post has been edited by KahLooN: Mar 21 2007, 09:29 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

KahLoon, the bios itself can't enable the PAT if i am not mistaken. You can use Tweak 865/875 software or MemeSet 3.0 . Both of these tweaking software are very good and either one of them can let you enable the PAT or it's called GAT on Abit mobo. QUOTE(kabukiawie @ Mar 22 2007, 08:45 AM) most probably it is. kabukiawie, you are using the stock heatsink on your Asus mobo right? I found that during loading, the passive heatsink might be a bit hot. |

if oc the NB sink is quite hot. You also using the same mobo as mine with oc, so you should notice that. last time when using the stock hfs, the northbridge sink is quite hot as it also absorb the heat from cpu.
have you ever try to apply as5 on it? Ori stock northbridge uses the plastic/rubber type thermal paste. Last time it was hot, now just wam2 only. Before 37-40C and now 35c+- according to mbm. i change the paste is because i take the northbridge when installing xp120, so at the same time just clean and apply as5 on it. Maybe you can try get a fan to cool it instead of leave it passive. Just my suggestion. This post has been edited by kabukiawie: Mar 22 2007, 01:13 PM |

Oh i am not aware about this.Later i will try to apply the AS5 and see. When overclocking and loading,it's damn hot.It made me worry about the northbridge, afraid not stable. Thanks for your suggestion.have you ever try to apply as5 on it? No prob. haha..... i can sure that as5 is far better than the plastic thermal paste. it take me sometime to 'peal' it off from the sink and chip. i should do that when i got my as5 earlier.
@ shinjite 2GB ram sure sweet. |
