if you are using 3.0E and wish to OC, your CM heatsink cant handle that. get something better like those from Thermalright, ZeroTherm or Noctua. You will find more option in Cooling/Modding Forum.

mine is 3.0C oc at 3.41GHz. My northwood core is terribly high on 100% load. can be as high as 75C. i came across with alot of HSF review but cannot find exactly how much celcius © can be lowered down on OCed P4

i am using 3.4C (30caps) oc at 3.82ghz

3.82ghz
Idle: 35'C
Full Load: 46'C

3.4ghz
Idle: 29'C
Full Load: 38'C

My processor is a 30caps ver. The temp is higher than normal ver C P4. Seem that my heatsink really great smile.gif

I am using Scythe Andy Samurai Master with Silverstone FM121. The third best in Scythe Heatsink, after Scythe Infinity and Ninja.

Reapply your TIM and heatsink. Your temp is too high and abnormal.

is it due to not high performance HSF from Coolermaster Xdream III? well it says from the box it can support up to 3.4GHz P4. is it due to HSF design where 90% made from aluminium only the base is full copper.

IMO, there are only 2 possible scenario in your case.

1. Your heatsink is not good enough. (IMO, almost all of Cooler Master heatsink is crappy except Hyper TX and Gemini series)

2. You didnt mount your heatsink properly. Probably lack of TIM or pressure on the processor.

Sorry if I sounds harsh. But you must know that your Xdream III is considered as low end 3rd party heatsink. Your heatsink dont have any heatpipe and used only a normal fan. IMO, its performance probably only better than stock cooler abit. Thus, it is almost impossible for it to cope up with the heat produced from a prescott even you used it at default speed.

You can compare your heatsink with those high end stuff sell by fellow forummer. You will see the difference in its looks and of course the performance.

Thermalright

Scythe

Noctua

I dont wish to discuss this any further since I am way off topic here. Any further question, pls discuss it in Cooling and Hard-modding Thread

Actually I should playing with my new x6700 and 8800gtx rig by now. But before i managed to withdraw the money, I cant get through my customs and that is my Girlfriend. She questioned my spending and we go into a friendly debate. In the end, she won the debate sad.gif. I dont need such a powerful new rig since I am not in graphic design line and have too little time for games due to heavy workload. So I get myself a new GC to use lo.

*Moral of the story: When you have a GF, not easy to spend money on computer parts even you have those money to spend. So upgrade while you can. haha..

So right now irangan is using his 1950 PRO ? His signature is written incoming status for the display card.
@ irangan, show us some print screen on the 3D marks. I read the reviews online that the x1950 pro did quite well on the 3D mark 06 too.
