@kingmax if your mobo really spoiled, it is quite hard to repair it locally as those pc shops just selling products. Electrician dont have the facilities for mobo. I dont think the RMA cost will be cheap, it takes ages and the shipping fees are not cheap. Better use the $ to get a new 478 mobo or buy from forumers. Well, these are only my 2 cents. The decision is in your hand.

if the procssor and ram is ocable, it should be able to show 70%++ of its real performance. Too bad the limited vdimm hold some of the high voltage ram back to get higher.

i would recommend backup your data and fresh install to get the better performance. if really want to use back the old windows, put windows cd in and reinstall it. But i think it just save the time for installing other software.

@kingmax i still recommend fresh format. FYI, i believe there are 'junk' files in your current system. For sure your old driver files will be still in windows even you uninstall them after reinstall windows. It more or less will bring down the performance. Why dont spend a little more time to fresh install it? @nelza-ax you mean after you fresh install it wont boot into windows? Quite weird ......

Ok i'll format and freshly install window xp. Just want to ask , noob question , i am using something like Intel 865PE at my asus board. If i buy a new motherboard not Intel 865PE will it work with my pentium 4 processor ? If i use back the same Intel 865PE chipset means i can run back my window xp without reformating it ?
