His SuperPI is fast because of the 1MB L2 cache
Sandra mem bandwidth only 3 K? That means he is running on single channel only

The only Northwood I know is the highest here is kcync's Northwood, 34 seconds
*
yup, single channel. the insane speed and 1mb L2 cache really boost the super PI. kcync's northwood is quite high oc, i forgot how fast. 34s is cool drool.gif

can you feel the responsiveness with and without DC?? i dont really feel the responsiveness. Only have different in memory benchmark. DC if not wrong it boost like 5%+- of current system. if performance for higher speed without DC is better than highest with DC, then there is no harm to live without DC. tongue.gif

i havent try to disable DC and push it higher, maybe it can help to squeeze somemore juice from my cpu...hehe... i wish i have FMA laugh.gif
*
dont know laugh.gif now my bandwith as stated frm sandra is like 2.7K+ only doh.gif so if i disable DC will it be able to go higher?lolz if not then im not touching my rams till my FMA returns laugh.gif

34 seconds in Northwood is equalavent to 4Ghz range. Remember he is using phase cooling smile.gif Us air cooling can't even reach 4 Ghz, its going to the limits already

If you play around normally in desktop, you won't feel any difference, most of it will be in benchmarks. So if u disable your DC, expect lower scores then....smile.gif

oh okay..how about gaming and other processor hungry apps like encoding vids and all that?will there be a significant difference if i disable DC? unsure.gif maybe i'll add in my old ram n make it 1.5gb laugh.gif

i'm gathering all the infomation i got to perform the VTT mod on my IC7 MAX3 in order to run my UTT BH5 at 3.2V.
i'll need fellow forumer here to help me gather as much information as possible as to complete the MOD.

i also found out that a Droop Mod also helps to stablelize Vcore and Vdimm to help OC more success.

you help is most welcome.thanks

Vmodding need really expert work as it involves soldering work on board. sweat.gif I also not giong to try as i feel risky.Well increasing the Vdimm sure will boost more on RAM.

34s is preety fast. The fastest i can get on mine system is 38s with 3.712GHz with 1:1 divider @231FSB on my board. Using phase cooling only gives little boost on the PI result, that's hard to believe also. But Northwood will be max out at 4GHz,i guess that is the best he can done already. biggrin.gif

disable DC will decrease the score for sure. i tried before, same speed it drop from 4k to 3k+a bit. doh.gif
BTW, what you set for your "performance mode" in 'chipset' at BIOS?? MUST put enable to run DC, AUTO will most probably disable it. Thats my experience. icon_rolleyes.gif

mine ddr400 my default spd on 400MHz, then it will be 2.5-4-4-8 sad.gif
currently running on spd at 2-3-3-6, prime overnight stable at 168*18 smile.gif

I think the Vdimm is limiting you.Asus P4P800-X max at 2.68V. sad.gif

yeah...already set mine to the max of 2.658v already sad.gif iirc last time on my msi mobo i dint change the vdimm n can reach up to 2.88ghz [192.5mhz on rams]

i dont think is the vdimm, i face even weird case on this mobo, it wont boot at all if i set to 3-x-x-x on 1:1!!!! sweat.gif

but if the ram speed is above default, then its fine.

haihz..cant do much at my current situation..so shud i stick in another 512mb ram?is it better that way or its better to run DC with two KVR400s unsure.gif

For Vdimm mod, u need to solder a higher Ohm capasitor, like 300-450Ohm. As for droop mod, a bit tough.

Kcync's Northwood is over 4 Ghz (34 seconds man rclxms.gif ), with phase cooling, over 4 Ghz is easy because your temp is below sub zero and you can increase the voltage to >1.9V without much problems.

better way?? put ddr400 ram at slot 1 and 3, enable the performance mode in bios. then your DC is on most probably. (dont curse me if it doesnt work that way tongue.gif )

if it doesnt change anything like DC cannot enabled or no oc improve at 1:1, then you can just run at 1.5GB ram. Just my cheap 2 cents icon_rolleyes.gif
