try to boot with 1 stick of ram, it can boot then put in another 1. maybe you can try to switch the ram or slot. hope it helps.

=.= i managed to boot up at 1.5gb of ram...used the 1st 2nd and 4th slot.when i tried the new ram only 1 piece[512mb] came out the bsod
edit : now can run 2 pc DDR400 but in slot 1 and 2 , not dual channel btw my speeds now is DDR375 on divider 4:5 and superPI is 59s [1s slower then my old dual channel rams] This post has been edited by pengster: Jan 10 2007, 11:01 PM |

1.5GB is not dual channel so bandwidth will be slower than DC
Run memtest see got errors or not |

u mean u cant run the ddr400 together?? hmm..... try run the newly bought ram, once boot then put it in your old ddr400 ram. Quite weird that. btw, did you set all settings to default timing and clock speed?

QUOTE(pengster @ Jan 10 2007, 11:41 PM) yeah now i have 2 DDR400 and 1 DDR266 but i cant run both the DDR400 in dual channel, only single channel same speed and brand of ram usually will not face any compatible problem. my kingmax ram with different pcb color still can run together for 2 years dual channel. |

try with different ram slots loh.....
if worst come to worst, use 1 stick of ddr400 + ddr 266 At least still will run DC at 266Mhz stock This post has been edited by shinjite: Jan 11 2007, 12:43 AM |

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Jan 10 2007, 07:42 PM) Yaya recently i discovered that using tighter timing on my RAM does boost a bit on the Super PI. yeah.... tighter timing will boost your comp performance. that's why i rather run at 3.82ghz, 1:1, 2 3 2 5 than 3.9ghz, 5:4, 3 4 4 8. heheQUOTE(pengster @ Jan 10 2007, 08:01 PM) erm just a question.if my ram's timings are too tight for my mobo, will it cause my whole pc to freeze up? QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Jan 10 2007, 08:15 PM) Yaya, unsuitable RAM timing will causing your pc to freeze.Especially those tight timing like 2-x-x-x . If want to use those tight timing, need very good and high performance RAM.I see irangan's RAM also can run at tight timing nicely.I guess his value RAM is the best in terms of performance and value in tight timing setting. QUOTE(shinjite @ Jan 10 2007, 08:37 PM) play around, if too tight it will either give you a long beep or it won't boot at all if memory timing not correct, your comp will freeze up OR cant even boot. need to clear CMOS before you boot.If it can boot, another symptom is that your comp will freeze then restart XD |

pengster, from your posting..
there is only 2 possible scenarios. 1)i think your old DDR400 is not compatible with your new ram. are you sure that your old DDR400 is Kingston Value RAM? just now during the trading, i gave you my ram box too. you can check the serial num on the box. my ram is 100% Kingston Value RAM. 2)your mobo dual channel have problem. info: dual channel only works when both of the ram is identical. e.g. KVR and KVR and so on. edit: Run memtest on my ram, i am sure that your pro is not due to faulty ram. i tested the ram before sold to you just now This post has been edited by irangan: Jan 11 2007, 02:19 AM |

QUOTE(overclockalbert @ Jan 11 2007, 02:38 AM) to run dual channel not necessary KVR with KVR. according to some report that i read, if it is not the same type of ram. e.g. brand and so on. there is a high chance it wont perform in dual channel. that's why those branded ram always recommended user to get those 2 pieces kit to ensure 100% compatibility.i had once try KVR with Corsair, KVR & Apacer also no problem but just the same value of both ram, which is 512 & 512 if your saying is correct, that's means that there is something wrong with pengster mobo. |

even not the same type of RAM also able to run in DC, but doesn't mean all can run.
in this case, i believe the problem come from the RAM instead of mobo. |

maybe the spd of the ram is different for both ram. maybe can try adjust the ram timing at c3 or 2.5. by setting loose timing than the ori timing that acceptable for both, maybe can run DC. Just my 2 cents.

okay now im running at dual channel with 1 of my old DDR266 and irangan's DDR400 and no problems..just that when i boot it says overclocking failed and i have to set back to my stock speeds (2.4ghz)
btw my other ram is confirmed a KVR,i bought it and it cam with the same box plus a blue cardboard box edit : when i tried booting up with both my DDR400 it says NTLDR is missing , press ctrl alt del to restart OMFG i totally cant boot up my pc anymore edit again : now can boot up again with both DDR400 in slot 1 and 2 after i disabled spread spectrum and changed my boot up harddisk priority edit yet again : now i've succesfully managed to run dual channel with both the DDR400 KVR's This post has been edited by pengster: Jan 11 2007, 09:30 PM |
