Mine is assigned with upload and download with 2048kbps but no use because actual speed is horrible. I think the assigned speed is based on the tower and location.

Maxis can set 10Mbps for both upload and download here for me, but with the congestion here, it is nothing different than 384kbps speed.

Maxis closed my case and assumed it has resolved because they detected no problem in my area. doh.gif What a way to assume things ya?

So I wasn't happy with that as I am still experiencing slow speed and called back to screw them up. It wasn't a pleasant conversation because they put me to a non-knowledgeable lady to attend to my complaint. She basically has no fundamental understanding on technical stuffs. doh.gif

This could be the LOL of the day. Here is part of the conversation to show that Maxis simply chooses its personnel to deal with the customers.

CS: Miss, which phone model are you using now?
Me: Nokia E61i
CS: So you didn't receive any GPRS signal from it?
Me: ?? Since when did I tell you I didn't receive any signal? I said I'm facing with slow speed. Since my phone only supports up to 384kbps so it doesn't show any significant decrease on my phone. I'm using it in an HSDPA USB modem and it shows very obvious results. I have been getting only maximum 500kbps.
CS: Oh, so miss you plug in the USB modem to your phone to surf net?
Me: (Tried not to laugh.gif) No, USB modem is meant to be connected to desktop or laptop madam. (I have to teach her doh.gif) In my case, I plugged it to my netbook, I mean laptop (I scare she doesn't know what netbook is) sweat.gif

Another part of the conversation:
CS: Miss, this case has been resolved. It could be your SIM card or modem is spoilt.
Me: (Expected this remark will be made) I see. I'm sure I'm not the only one that faces with this problem. Check out your Tweeter and see how many people are facing with the same problem as mine? Yeah, coincidentally all of us have spoilt SIM card and modem. rolleyes.gif
CS: (Silent)

Of course she kept asking me to wait on the line while she sought for clarification. I could hear a guy next to her teaching her how to tackle my questions and which types of questions need to be asked back to me. I actually wanted to speak to the guy because he looks more knowledgeable than this lady but looking on how Maxis treated my case, I wanted to fool around with this lady. whistling.gif

Anyway because she kept putting me on hold, this call was ended after 30 minutes and I was using my DiGi line to call them. WTH. Finally after I kept insisting someone to call me and demanded a proper status update from them, she opened up another case for me. Hopefully this time will get the fact right straight into their mind. shakehead.gif

I'd love that, able to go online on my phone without subscribing to any expensive postpaid plan with data.

Yes. Amazing fact came out from a Maxis CS. Not a specialist but at least equipped with fundamental knowledge for God's sake. I'm disappointed. sad.gif

The CS still can happily telling me my modem or SIM card is spoilt. shakehead.gif

I bet this kind of good speed only happens at these hours, they better get everything fixed man or should I convince myself they work over time to get this crap fixed? laugh.gif

Of course I'm happy now, if I'm not, I must be crazy. laugh.gif
But it is still early to judge at this kind of happy hour. See later at night when I'm back from work if there is any improvement. biggrin.gif

My speed today in Kulim. rclxms.gif
Seems that Maxis has recovered the problem in Kulim but the congestion at night time in Penang is a problem they
really have to look into.
