I just managed to join in the multisim club. (only 1 multisim so far)
My unlimited package was canceled end of last year, but i managed to
get it back. Lucky me. smile.gif

However, i find that the speed is not consistent, sometime only reach 80 KB/s but it can fluctuate to
almost 300 KB/s....

Anyway to make it stable and fast??

Just bought a Huawei E1762, the speed seems to be faster and more stable with it. At least Maxis 3G is giving me what Streamyx can't give me - 2mpbs or 4mpbs.

Just want to know your experience, so far when i used my iPhone 3GS or Huawei E1762 directly connect to my PC, I get > 2Mbps download but <60kbps of upload speed only.

But when I connect my E1762 to wireless router Prolink PWH2004, the download speed is the same, however I can get very good upload speed which is >300kbps...

Anyone has this experience before, or can explain the reason behind the differences? Both setting in iPhone, PC and Prolink is the same.

This is what i don't understand, the router is only a router and doesn't have the modem function in it. So the upload speed should not influence by the router but should be influence by the modem.

BUT, using the E1762 on PC vs through the Prolink router showed different upload reading. Strange rclxub.gif

Anyone can do a test if you have both Prolink PWH2004 and E1762??

I have also tried U2-TF modem as well, when plug into Prolink router, I got >300 kpbs upload speed, while plug into
PC only give me 60kbps max.

Just to share the wonder of Windows 7 in load balancing and the speed of Maxis 3G this morning.

My E1762 (Maxis 3G) is connected to my PC via prolink PWH2004 using LAN.

While my 1mbps Streamyx is connect through the wireless.

So when both running at the maximum speed, I can reach almost 5mbps, and so far it works not only on multiple downloads, but it also helps in ppstream in the total speed.

The maxis speed is superb only during day time (6am - 6pm)
Streamyx speed is stable at 1.3 mpbs

So, if i add another USB modem to the PC, it will be total 7.5 mbps drool.gif

Actually I have tried many software to have this NLB (Network load balancing), like Multiconnect, MB Load Balance, NAT32, but none of it works on windows vista. Which drive me to upgrade to Windows 7 knowing that it will support NLB.

To enable the NLB in Windows 7, you will need to go to each the connected network, right click to see the properties -> then under Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) IPv4, select properties -> click advance -> uncheck automatic metric -> input value of 1. REMEMBER, all network connection that you want to NLB must be set the metric to 1.

How it works so far -> it seems that Windows 7 will try to full load one of the network first before loading the other one. Which one it will select is random.

Let's share your result after following the method above.

PS. I tried to do a lot of other things as well but i think the metric setting is the one that works.
See this link as well on editing the registry, but I am not sure it helps Load balance 2 internet connections. But metric setting is definitely needed.

After unchecking "Automatic Metric" and entering "1", it says it needs at least one IP.  unsure.gif

I think your network is not connected when you change the value. Make sure the network is connected, either LAN, WLAN or your USB broadband.

Usually for my location - Penang, the speed during weekdays 6am - 6pm is quite stable, once over 6pm, the
speed will reduce to less than 1mpbs. Weekend is terrible. May be due to congestion.

Is it true that Maxis will disconnect the broadband connection if no data activity detected in 30 mins?

Anyone knows or recommend any good HSPA+ modem?

Anyone offered to be beta tester?

Agree with you fruitie, Maxis speed is slow nowadays.

I was able to access upto 3Mbps previously, but suddenly this month the speed deteriorated to only 600kpbs only.

Today's speed -

try to use a software by the name of MDMA and chk your upload and download profile

mine was upgraded to 2048 kbps (upload) and  to 8046 kbps ( download) just recently

this is the fastest amongst the 4 celcos currently
*
Wow, your download and upload speed is incredible FAST. What is the modem you used to support that speed? Are you on Maxis HSPA+ already??

My maxis speed in both Kulim and Penang Island really sucks.

Mine is assigned with upload and download with 2048kbps but no use because actual speed is horrible. I think the assigned speed is based on the tower and location.

Maxis can set 10Mbps for both upload and download here for me, but with the congestion here, it is nothing different than 384kbps speed.

My speed today in Kulim. rclxms.gif
Seems that Maxis has recovered the problem in Kulim but the congestion at night time in Penang is a problem they
really have to look into.

Wow, your findings are really interesting. Were both tested at the same time?

Anyone else see this different between the primary and the secondary card?

So far my connection speed has no difference with my primary line. tongue.gif

Yeah, mine is the same too. No difference. Though I do notice that primary line IP always start with 113.x.x.x while secondary and above
have IP of 202.x.x.x

Well, the speed in the evening still sucks in my area (Batu Lanchang, Penang) mad.gif
