Hey guys, I've a few enquiries here and hoping some kind souls out there to help me answering them. notworthy.gif

1) What's the difference of this Maxis broadband service with the infamous Maxis Wireless Broadband?

2) It seems this has no fair usage policy while Maxis WBB has 3GB limit?

3) I'm not sure if my area is covered with Maxis 3G, can I check using Hotlink before registering for postpaid?

4) Bound to any contract?

5) Packages that available? I have my own unlocked HSDPA modem, possible to get any package that allows me to not to opt for any modem?

I think so far for these questions. Thank you and have a nice day guys. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the kind replies, I know that Seremban and certain areas in Malacca are covered with 3G and 3.5G but then in the coverage website, it shows only EDGE in such areas. sweat.gif

I don't think my area has Maxis 3G. Sad. Never mind then...

I'll wait till I leave to KL for my career, precisely in June. biggrin.gif

I have asked before and most of your questions were answered here: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry24338335 and http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry24338401

I didn't ask about the shared IP only, maybe they are using shared IP just like other providers? hmm.gif

Not necessary to be tied with a voice plan.
Yes, no FUP for this plan, it is not wireless broadband.

Yes iPhone 3G can be used as modem but not for video call.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

a 3G IPhone main function is Video Calls rite?

as far as i knoe, Iphone cannot be use to "bridge" the internet connection to a PC/Laptop
this Apple marvel is not cable/bluetooth freindly cause they are afraid tat third party connection will somehow make them no so "original"

come on man, IPhone users pls post something to clarify this tongue.gif
*
No, it has no front camera.
3G in its context is for broadband purpose.

You can use all the SIMs at the same time. You are already paying for it. That's the purpose of having multi-SIM 1 line - use 1 for your phone, 1 for blackberry or any device at the same time.

Really? Gosh, this is like so nice. drool.gif

Retard yourself, broadband services today are not taxable. DiGi and Celcom have taken out the service tax!

DiGi still has if I'm not mistaken. smile.gif

Hey guys I am a maxis user and want to subscribe to the unlimited 99 ringgit plan.  You think it is worth it?  Or should I move over to celcom?  I have never used anything but maxis but maybe a change will be good.  Please let me know.  Interested in an unlimited plan with good speed and want to connect the phone to the pc to use the internet.
*
If you have Maxis 3G coverage, it is better to opt for Maxis as this plan has no fair usage policy. Celcom has 5GB policy. smile.gif

seem like it's way better than maxis wireless package.
and this is cheaper too.

why don't everyone use this instead of maxis wireless package then?
*
Because this package is actually for Internet surfing from the phone and not for broadband actually. Plus, it doesn't come with any bundled modem. smile.gif

Klang. Previously my average data per month 200GB. Problem start from early MAY 2009. doh.gif
*
How did you diagnose the problem because of 3GB FUP? smile.gif
It could be the connection problem right?
Please enlighten me because I'm now testing this Maxis package, if nothing happens I'll be a user soon. smile.gif

No problem on my side too, just that it is slower during nights time because of the peak hours. I can understand that. Else my direct download exceeds 100kB/s. smile.gif

Silly question...does DIGI offer 3G Internet?
*
3G broadband you mean? Yes, it has, the only wireless broadband provider in Malaysia that uses HSPA whereas others are using HSDPA only. smile.gif
I've tried all wireless broadband services in Malaysia and I cannot deny the fact, DiGi has the best wireless broadband. So far, none of the users is not satisfied with the service.

wanna ask a question, if i use the hp as modem, will the phone battery finish fast?
coz normally online will take few hours, the battery consumption high?
*
So, it is not advisable to use phone as modem. smile.gif
Before I bought my USB modem, I was using a phone to make it as modem to online 24/7, so I just plugged in the charger together.
Anyway, to get a modem nowadays is very cheap and more convenient. smile.gif
Though the speed doesn't vary much. smile.gif

Hi fruitie,

May I know which brand+model of the modem you are using?

besides HuaWei and ZTE MF600 modem mentioned by ibnuasad (thanks  notworthy.gif )

and how do we share the connection? I haven't come accross any wireless router that has a USB Port.

Thanks in advance.  notworthy.gif
*
I'm using ZTE MF622. Much smaller and sleeker.
You need the gateway router to do this and it is not that cheap. smile.gif

I never get this kind of SPEED for the last TWO MONTH. My average Daytime speed is around 2000kbps (200kB/s to 250kB/s). Now my speed is less than 50kB/s, itu bukan BEST EFFORT namanya. Itu BEST CAPPED. Never mind these few day i will test at other area also. Let other know how i being CAPPED  rclxm9.gif
*
If it is capped, you won't get this speed OK?
It is much worse than that. doh.gif
You can get that speed last time, doesn't mean it will continue. There are many factors that affecting it.
In contrary, you may get bad speed last time and better speed now. smile.gif
Could be Maxis problem or even your modem problem? hmm.gif
Don't get offended by my words, I'm just stating my reasons. biggrin.gif
It could be the users congestion at your area(s) too. smile.gif

laugh.gif Everyone knows wireless broadband is very location and users population dependent. Modem just plays a little small role. smile.gif

NSN's modems are not available for Malaysians, unfortunately. tongue.gif

Well, any more information I can't reveal. smile.gif
It is the service provider that caps the users and it has nothing to do with hardware and infrastructure provider. tongue.gif

Ya but too bad PD has only GPRS for it. laugh.gif sweat.gif
