And thinking of this redemption, i basically worked out the below itinerary and something interesting came up.

1. fly SIN / KL to KLO (holiday in Boracay)
2. fly from Philippines to Cape Town, via SQ redemption
3. fly back from Cape Town to SIN

on (2), i found out that we can redeem the whole trip, from Kalibo to Cape Town

i. Kalibo - Cebu - Singapore via Silk Air
ii. SIN - JNB - CPT via SQ (SQ do a 1 hour stop at JNB and the same plane goes to CPT)

Basically no internal or self transfer flight required in either Philippines or South Africa, best part? The miles required are still 38,250 Krisflyer Miles and the tax is only USD 4.34!!!

on (3) I initially research on ways to get back from South Africa to Singapore / KL and one of it is via AAX through Mauritius but to get to Mauritius from SA is really pain (Ticket price around RM2k one way).

Options: Middle East airlines - Just below SGD 600 one way (CPT - SIN). Then i found that SQ offer similar rate too for one way economy and you save on time. (13 hours compared to 18 / 19 hours transiting at middle east.
