Thanks very very much for your comprehensive explanation. You sound like you really know your stuff! The piano was an impulse purchase (went to look-see for fun and ended up buying) so I didn't have time to consider maximising CC usage. I wasn't really thinking about all this until I got home.

I opted for 0% EZPay because CL is sufficient and I haven't even hit the 50% mark. I figured putting in 4.2% FD for 3 years gets me nearly 4k in interest and paying RM833 a month doesn't feel so bad. Short term gratification...

Also, the balance of the piano was 18k. I paid this using my brand new CIMB Enrich card which gives a welcome bonus of 60,000 enrich points (on top of normal Enrich points).

As I only got M2P in Jan this year, still trying to change my mindset and strategy from cashback / managing cash flow to airmiles collection.

Thanks again for taking the time to explain and clarify. Will look out for my 30k TP in the next few days.

Yea, it is down to individual preference.
Wow, you have close to 6 digit CL!
I did some research / calling CS before paying via EzyPay (which is the only option to use CC, else only cash/cheque).
The fund supposed to pay one shot are now sitting in my FD, comforting me for the missing 1x TP.
Regarding cashback or air miles, you have to choose either one, I have now given up all cashback and solely focus on maximizing air miles.

Yes, should have done that. Have an AEON 6 month BT to play with in May. I got too excited at having such a long interest free "loan". Just hope I will stick with these cards for the next 3 years.

But what's done is done. Impulse buy....

Price for a grand piano is somewhere there.
I believe she already has intention to get one, just the matter of when and which model to get.
She is now happy with the extra 4k from FD with EzyPay which justified her purchase.

Btw, impulse purchase of RM99, don't need 3 sleepless nights la. Haha biggrin.gif

OT: RM48k can't buy a grand! Only a Japanese-made upright which was last one in stock (hence the impulsive purchase). When it comes to kids, just have to close eyes and pay.

Oops! 48k can't buy a grand!!??
Is true, but my kids 'yet' to get involve with music...
Elder one has other interest and we (whole family) have to drive/fly with him here and there for some activities.
Younger one (ok, two) may send for music in the coming years.

Fingers crossed. Just swiped 5.6k since I will need to use in coming weeks. Still hoping they can win, even 1-0 also OK so I can get 5x.

So glad I didn't have to rely on tonight's MU game when buying a new laptop today. Was pleasantly surprised to find that Dell online accepts AMEX.

This time I planned the purchase and didn't take up the 0% instalment payment scheme so that I could get my 5X TP (and will later use CIMB 0% 6m BT). Since getting M2P, I realised that I can use Amex for the majority purchases (except school fees). I wish I had joined the club earlier!

My kids are below 5yo, but I also play and feel that a good quality instrument makes a world of difference. I hope that at least 1 of the 3 will appreciate it!
