My personal stand is this. If their new plans do not have something to benefit current customers on contract, I will pay my penalties and I will walk away. Before I do that, I will give them one more round of hell, and this time, I won't do it on social media (since I'm banned from their FB page anyway). I will do it very loudly at their maxis centre.

Because its all under "contract" which mean you agree to the SUM and service offer, thats why you sign it. Hardly you can take the price u agree before to argue for the price right now.

The best case that could happen is, maxis give u additional free maybe 5gb.

Just like u buy a device when it lauch with 3k, u cant simply go make noice because few month later the device price drop to 2k.

True, but may not always be the case. Those who have ported to D/U/C and suddenly realize the network is far inferior and if maxis comes back with a good counter offer, they may just swallow their pride and come back. In the end, maxis loses nothing. Of course, those who felt betrayed by the brand will never come back, so it depends on the consumer in the end. After all, we vote with our wallets.

Yes, you guys are absolutely right. It all depends on coverage area. Personally, I have tried DiGi (2 years contract), Celcom (1 year contract) and even U Mobile and at my area unfortunately none of them are really stable. It's a matter of location and probably timing as well. But I agree that a lot can happen within a year or two - coverage and network quality can be improved, prices can be lowered, etc. In the end, consumers don't really lose, except if you sign a contract, which is the biggest lesson I learnt from this whole maxis fiasco. Don't sign a device contract with a telco - especially for two years!

I've got 18 months left on an iPhone 6S Plus. Penalty as of today is RM941.00.

Another iPad Air 2 with 8 months left. Penalty RM288.

Yes, that one I plan to pay the penalty this weekend, it's a Surfmore 50. And if they come back and offer unlimited calls and texts, I'd ask them to stuff it unless they can make cellular calls from an iPad.

Won't be in a hurry to port as well. Let's see what unfolds next week smile.gif (20GB for RM10? Really?)

I agree. When I go over quota and my speed is throttled to E, it's almost unusable for Safari on my iPad.
