It's a good deal if you're comfortable with maxis. But some people got that same offer for RM68 and some got it for RM78. If this doesn't bother you then it's fine.

My current plan: RM128 + 3GB + Unlimited calls/texts - iPhone 6S Plus contract (19 months to go)

My tablet plan: RM50 + 2GB + No calls/texts - iPad Air 2 plan (9 months to go)

Zerolution Plan I took for my family member: RM128 + 3GB + Unlimited calls/texts + Note 5 (22 months to go - just took before CNY)

That's RM306 + RM93 for the Note 5 (exclude 6% GST) for total 8GB data.

Trust me, I'm the bigger idiot here.

That special offer benefits them more than it benefits you, coz you pay additional 30 a month - more revenue for them. Didn't you ask them what promo they have for you if you want to continue paying 128 a month?

To me personally, it's not an upgrade if I end up paying for it.

Ya, but the disparity between what is offered to West Malaysians is not that glaring, which is why there is almost no backlash compared to what maxis did.

Also I believe this was just a reaction to defend their ground as I understand more EM people prefer DiGi

Maxis started One Plan, was successful until everyone else picked up the concept of giving unlimited calls and started price war. No doubt, Maxis wasn't quick enough to counter that, they started thinking sideways by offering One Roam and Zerolution.

There's prolly a few factors I put into consideration why they did not counter back that

1. They have a HQ in the centre of KL owning over 20 floors called Menara Maxis. Maintenance costs, Management costs hiring a new CEO back in 2014? from Vodafone prolly having top notch salaries and etc.

2. No matter how much they lower their prices, Digi or Umobile would prolly pick up the fight and eventually when no one else makes money, they wrap up like TIME and JARING. So much for consumer fun comparing prices now.

No doubt they're lots of ignorant users these days. Some like me are willing to spend a lil more for certain services that only Maxis offers, only because cases like my company pays my bills.

Multisim that allows data sharing and i slot an extra sim in my ipad to utilize the 5gb that i can never use up on my cheap handphone

Call centres that can handle bill disputes unlike celcom which outsources their call centre. You prolly have to walk in should you require a dispute.

But i must admit, it was some backfired plan to offer EM rockbottom price compared to WM. Maxis has always been a semenanjung brand and prolly wanted to win over EM.

The EM one plan has been ongoing since 2014 (used it since then) and the difference was RM 30. I was surprised to find it having a gap of RM90 now.

And another stupid idea to offer it as a retention deal. Wouldn't have caused this much trouble if they had maintained their 10~20% higher than OLO strategy all this while with a lil better service and network. But well prolly that so called 10~20% extra wouldn't be sufficient to cover up for their expenses and profit either

I agree with you bro, you can see from my previous post (just on couple previous pages) that I have 3 existing contracts with them. I wouldn't have signed these unless I was happy with them, and I was. When Celcom, U Mobile and DiGi announced their new value-for-money plans, I didn't b*tch at all, coz frankly I've tried those telcos before. All of them. Even when maxis announced their EM plan, I wasn't bothered about the RM68 for 5GB thing, I was bothered by the MOP128 plan which shows even before promo, the quota was 5GB (with promo it became 9GB). I have two MOP128 plans and I just asked them why can't I just have 5GB each. That was it. I wasn't even asking for the 9GB that they were giving as promo.

Then they started their tai chi drama and I started ranting on their FB page till I got barred by their admin. This was long before this thread when viral. I never asked them to match their competitors, I asked them to be fair to all paying customers. No answers.

If they were really sincere about having selective pricings and retention programs, I'm also fine with that, but how about a little transparency? How can someone who has been with them a couple of months get a better retention plan when he opts to port compared someone who has been with them for years? And what's the deal with offering 5GB plans for 68,78 or 98 to these customers? What good "data" on us do they have to make that pricing structure? Our income status or average monthly spend with them?

I was once their staunch supporter, when everyone was telling me other telcos are better and cheaper, I used to dismiss them and go been there, tried that. Now that this whole thing has gone viral and they have basically shot themselves in the foot with that reply, I couldn't be happier.

Hahaha, not all that bad la, except for the Note 5 the 6s plus and Air 2 penalties combined is just 1.2k plus.

The Note 5 is for my bro who is happy with maxis so he pays for that.

Edit: and even if my bro wanted to cancel the Zerolution, there is no contract penalty, just pay the device price which is fine.

Noticed that the maxis drones are not using the usual FB maxis CS "AskMaxis" account anymore, but instead they created personal ones to get in touch with customers who were complaining. That partially explains their social media silence with regards to these matters.
