How much did it cost you for your rotary buffer? Those things seems expensive.

And by DIY ourselves, it is easy to screw up the paint job while polishing?

I jenis oldschool, semua pakai tangan sweat.gif

Pakai tangan its actually very gentle.
So far after 1 year of regular cleaning and care, my paint is still like new. But got some mofos dinged my car before... so got minor scratch one in front and one at the back la.

I read up quite a bit on autogeek and also test it out by myself.

But I cakap betul la, can't rush these things. Slowly do nvm, cuz what we want is the results.
Put in the effort required, give it the time it needs to cure, then it'll give you the results you want. rclxm9.gif

Oh guys, I need a super water sucking cloth to wipe dry my car.

I'm currently using synthetic chamois which is leaving water streaks behind.

Any idea where to get cloth like the shamwow advertisement?

Almost twice a month I wax and apply spray wax without fail. I am using Meguiars  ultimate synthetic wax and I park my car under the shade without fail.

Still no idea why the body suffers color change.

Just try cleaner wax, really.
My gf's car is white, despite proper preparation and care, it always turn brown-ish a few weeks later.
despite what others claim, wax/sealant don't actually protect much of your car. still prone to external factors like a non-waxed car. ie: stubborn dirt, watermarks, heck some traditional wax even promotes better bonding of dirt, like a magnet. but it does make dirts and pollutants easier to manage. and no, 100% don't cover scratches or marrings.

Not the first time i'm hearing this bubble wash/bubble wax causing issues for car owners. If improper shampoo used, will cause spots/etching.
Mind sharing your car wash routine and material used?
*
i'm using PG polymer wash&wax, washing once per week or fortnight.
actually i suspect the used car seller don't know uses some sort of oil to masquerade the paint imperfection, but I don't know what they used. so i guess bubble wash cleans all those "oil surface" off, then we seeing those gray area appearing...

i just bought a car from used car dealer 2 months ago, initially the paint condition looks acceptable, then day-by-day more scratches surfacing and the paint begin to fade (grayish appearing). also the windscreen begins to accumulating water-spot from no water spot to heavy water-spot. I wash my car almost every week myself. owning few cars before and never had those issues occurring so fast in short period. so ytd i send my car for polishing and waxing.
i believe the car wash center which using bubble wash detergent cleans all dirts off. i got shocked of the paint condition after car wash.
this area become so horrible after bubble wash:

boot condition also very poor:

after the polish and wax the condition looks better, not 100% but acceptable. my question is, how come my paint condition can deteriorate so fast in 2 months? when the car was collected, the paint doesn't looks so bad...

My suspicion is the dealer masked the imperfections with a thick coat of wax. That's why as u wash and strip away the wax, the imperfections appear. If your swirl lines are circular, then its polishing fault, if your lines are generally straight, then its washing fault.

Also a strong possibility is your clearcoat is VERY soft, most likely local clearcoat. Soft clearcoats scratch and swirl very easily, and generally recommended to do coating if u dont want to respray. To know for sure, since u just polished and waxed again, continue your regular routine again and see if it comes back.

For your windshield, not too sure, but do u park this car outside often under the sun often? Older car windshield gets baked water spots faster generally. See if u can get someone to polish your windshield one round, then monitor the situation from there.

About 1 year plus. Almost twice a month I wax myself with Meguiars ultimate wax and apply spray wax after each car wash.

Worst come to worst, I would just repaint the whole car few years later or once the condition get worst since White solid paint is cheap. laugh.gif

Meguiars White Wax. Thats your go to for a white car. What douglas_tong suggested was correct too.
Trust me (white car owner here), I've done the 3 steps and it still comes back yellow.

White wax, peace of mind rclxms.gif Polish + Wax. If you want extra wet look, Ultimate Compound + White Wax.

When I was running my shop previously, my biz partner has a white Myvi that has also turned yellow from wear and tear. After polishing he applied coating for his car and it managed to maintain the whiteness of the car for a much longer period of time. So, if you prefer to keep your white car white for a longer period of time without constantly repolishing, I would suggest applying coating instead.

yeah, i also suspect it was hidden by some oil applied from used car dealer.
will observe how it goes after some wash.

A bit of both.

My white car, I started with Sierra Glow.
At times I will work on certain panels such as roof/bonnet/boot which are prone to water marks.
If I'm up to it, I'll detail myself. Otherwise I'll send it for touch up to Sierra Glow (RM200 last I recall).

My black car, DIY all bymyself.

Still in the learning process but I think I'll make the jump to a DA next.

So far I've only experienced with Sierra Glow (good detailer so far).
You may want to get more advice from others if you're planning to send it to the pros.

Sorry, I'm not very good with sealants, had a bad experience with sealants as they are very hard to buff when dry. I would generally go back to wax, or if I have coating available, do coating myself.
