Hi guys, I got my first new car that is white.

Planning to buy and apply sealant on my car so that I don't need to wax it so frequently.

What are the average to good brand sealant and the cost? Also, can I apply it after I wash my car with Turtle Wax's car shampoo, without any polishing and so on?

I have similar concern.

I looked up the internet and found this:
Step1: wash & rinse
Step2: clay and dry
Step3: polish
Step4: wax

I just got my meguiars clay kit yesterday, and a TW polishing compound.

Super excited to get started on it either today or tomorrow. =)

Dear sifus, I'm trying to redo my polish and wax.

From around the internet, I read about "stripping it down" which basically means to get rid of the previous coat of polish & wax.

How do I "strip it down"?

Wash and clay the car as usual. Polishing can remove old wax from the car. Dispite the polish is a low abrasive chemical that strip off wax and smooth out the paint.
(Remember to apply the wax after polishing)

If you are not polishing the car. Use IPA to wipe the car or degreaser works well. Then only you apply a fresh layer of wax

So what I should do is just to wash and clay as usual?

Hi bros
I'm adamant with my regiment of washing, claying, polish, and wax twice every time.

My question is this: what the fuck is a sealant? what does it do?

Dear detailers,

I read around the internet regarding layering the wax. (waxing by hand)

Some say 2 layers to even out the finish.

Some say up to 6 layers for best results.

I'm using this wax: https://www.amazon.com/P21S-12700W-Carnauba...x/dp/B002LOP5E4

You should do the inspection by lightly running you hands over the paint after washing the car (after rinse). You can more of less feel the areas needing attention. Normally the flat surfaces like hood, boot and roof need more frequent attention.

U should wash your car after claying. This will remove the QD & clay residue and enable your wax to adhere better.

Its fine to leave the QD at those parts. It'll come off during next wash.

Another tip is you can use your spray wax to protect the plastic and rubber parts.. this is for the meguiars ultimate spray wax/ xpress wax.
I even use  that spray wax for my windscreen and non porous interior surfaces. Quite versatile and safe for interior as its has low VOC.

Btw clay is for removing above surface contaminants. For below surface contaminants u need a polish like the meguiars ultimate polish. Unless your paint is already in good condition, you'll notice a difference post polish (for metallic paint, the metallic flakes will glitter more under light). Don't do the polishing often of course, but the abrasion of the clear coat is really minimal  smile.gif

What is the difference between a polish and a compound?
I have both and I bought the meg's ultimate compound mainly to deal with the swirl marks better.

But I really have close to no understanding behind what it does to my clear coat.

A compound has more or higher abbrasives.
Polish has lesser and smaller abbrasives.

Compound for serious defects.
- Scratches
- Oxidation

Polish for light defects.
- Light Swirls
- Watermarks

Ohhhhhhh

Thank you so much bro!

Matilah I went one round compound my whole car unnecessarily doh.gif

Agreed. Some have horrible pad conditions, some use 1 pad polish whole car without washing, some use just too little polish and zing past each area one time only. I even saw one holding down DA polisher until the pad stop spinning, machine overheat and stop working.

To be fair I dont blame them. The local detailing industry is about low price and fast delivery, so any place that ask to leave the car for 2-3 days u probably wouldnt go for.
*
Wah 2-3 days? That is for the polish and/or wax to cure completely isn't it?

Still got such place that offers such attention to detail? Intro pls

Thankiu sifu

It is advisable to DIY polish and wax my car myself?

Will be my first time doing such things and I have to say I'm moderately capable in DIY skills.

What are the estimated costs involved for all equipment and the creams?

Thanks sifu!

I was just like you.

I started off with strictly all TW products laugh.gif
And then slowly got a clue of what each product does.

Then from there, i slowly read up and look for what I want.

It's been super fun and it is still super fun!

Look for the results you want first.

I can safely say this is my cheapest hobby.

Im owning a white solid paint car and lately i noticed the color of the bumper and body is totally different. Bumper is white color where body is yellowish white.
Any idea or advice that polishing can improve the yellowish-white paint to whiter? or the only option is to respray?

Did you buy it new?
How long have you owned your car?

Maybe you want to properly clay and polish the yellowish side first.
See if it makes a difference. Klo tidak... repaint lo

But I also want to ask other sifus here.
I'm guessing that it's dirt and mud residue so I would try claying it and polish few rounds first to hopefully get rid of the micro residues.
Would compounding help in this case?

How much did it cost you for your rotary buffer? Those things seems expensive.

And by DIY ourselves, it is easy to screw up the paint job while polishing?
*
I jenis oldschool, semua pakai tangan sweat.gif

Pakai tangan its actually very gentle.
So far after 1 year of regular cleaning and care, my paint is still like new. But got some mofos dinged my car before... so got minor scratch one in front and one at the back la.

I read up quite a bit on autogeek and also test it out by myself.

But I cakap betul la, can't rush these things. Slowly do nvm, cuz what we want is the results.
Put in the effort required, give it the time it needs to cure, then it'll give you the results you want. rclxm9.gif

Oh guys, I need a super water sucking cloth to wipe dry my car.

I'm currently using synthetic chamois which is leaving water streaks behind.

Any idea where to get cloth like the shamwow advertisement?
