is it safe to wash and apply wax everyweek, when google found advised to was every 3 months once, i bought those wash mit and special car cloths, but i realize more and more tiny scratches on the pay, scared to send car wash, when i first take car its just been send to car wash, already had 4-5 scratches that was quite visible to the common eye, i did small research on paint, black is hardest to keep clean, but shines out the most when clean. i simply choose black coz i love black, i love darth vader,i love batman, i love the batmobiles.

Yes you can wax your car every week if you like to. Just make sure you are using pure wax and not cleaner wax.

Anyway, it is fine to use cleaner wax or all in one wax every week. However, just avoid it because we wouldn't know if the product you are using is too abrasive or just very light cleaning power. To be safe, always use pure wax, especially on black car. Reason being you won't see much stain on black car, so cleaner wax is just not necessary.

Dude,

I have a black car. And I'm crazy about details. If you want to get serious, it'll take commitment.

First, polish. Unavoidable and you'll do this often (once in a couple months). Get yourself some good compound (say sensha scratch cut or megs ultimate compound) and at least a random orbital machine (don't have to be expensive, I use a cheap black and decker). I would avoid cleaner wax (I just did an experiment with soft99 cleaner wax and boy you'll get lots of micro marring) like the plague. If not send it to a shop with good polishing skills (no holograms). Be sure the scratches are really gone and not just filled, use an alcohol wipe to confirm.

Next, good wash practices. Two buckets would help. Avoid the obvious stuff. Be gentle.

Finally, protect. Since you've done a proper polish, go for a pure wax or coating. This makes it easier to clean your car and you'll inflict less scratches as a result. There are plenty of choice out there but go for one that's easy to use so you won't skip this step.

Now just as closing, avoid waterless washes and try to avoid unnecessary wiping (unless it's bird poop, that you need to clean) until you're ready for a proper and we'll lubricated wash. Light scratches are unavoidable, but can be minimised, until your next (light) polish.

Hello sifus, would like to seek advise. My Honda City has a lot of scratches on piano black finish, plastic I guess. Would Meguiar's PlastX help?[attachmentid=7410549]

plastx is for clear plastic only... try if wax can cover up the scratches

Hmm can't find any information related to nano wash 2.0 from Google or official website. Is this a normal car shampoo without wax? How's the dilution ratio?

Wow that's cool. Dilution ratio 1:400 seems to be similar to Meguiars Hyper Wash! If the price is cheaper than Hyper Wash (meguiars malaysia quoted me RM250+ per gallon), it will definitely be a good bargain!

Newbie to site. Been wondering around, and searching for past half an hour and still not sure where to go. General automobile mechanical enquiry I'm sure certain car enthusiast with knowledge to car engine would be able to help. My dad's 20 yr old 3.2 lit XJ6 has been running well. Considering he does an average of about 10 km a day. With ignition on, all lightings and even the audio system is working fine, but as the key turns to start the engine, all is silence. Not even a sound of kick. Hmmmm....have had wireman checked, couldn't find the fault. Before we tow the old beast to KL about 200km away, was hoping a mechanical angel could provide some possibilities. Thanks heaps.

ps in the event I'm in the wrong thread, would much appreciate the guide. Cheers and a Happpy Merdeka!

Yup, that's a cleaner wax. Probably ok for light colored cars but for black, and discerning users, not good enough. You probably want to split your polishing/cleaning from your waxing. Why?

Cleaners/polish usually have some abrasives, while some waxes have fillers. This product may have both. So what I suspect is that your car had some great initial results, from the cleaning action (gets rid of contaminants but inflicts micro marring) and filling of scratches, including the earlier micro marring. What you don't get is durability and the fillers get washed off, then to your horror, the micro marring appears.

When I polish, I use a compound with no fillers and oils (sensha cratch cut), or follow with an ipa wipe to reveal all. Then after that I only apply (and reapply as required) sealant or coating. This way I don't get surprises with scratches resurfacing and only go back to polishing when new scratches accumulate.

It can be true. But that doesn't mean you'll get the skill and time that's required of a good polish job
