Alright then.

Skylake CPU does benefit from high speed RAM, I recommend you to swap to Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz RAM, just require an additional of RM 100 on top of the Kingston RAM.

As for monitor, don't sit too close to the 27" 1080p monitor because the PPI is much lower on bigger screen, pixels can be easily spotted, ideal one would be 24" for 1080p and 27" for 1440p.

how many GB is your gtx1060?

terence seem to recommend
kingston v400 ssd instead, that 240gb model is cheap/perform rm240 or something
also he normally recommends seasonic psu its cheaper and better hardware for its price range.
why not just get a normal cooler master 212 evo or something, from memory
its cheaper and quieter and similar/better performance. definitively more reliable in the long term department you mention rig will be for at least 5 years. cheap aio water cooler is not proven to be as reliable as standard coolers.

There is only one LGA2011-V3 mobo in the world which is the ASRock X99E-ITX/ac, it is very rare in Malaysia, high chance you gonna get it from overseas.

What's your main usage?

Going from i7 4790K to i7 5820K (or the latest i7 6800K) won't improve the gaming performance significantly, some games will have the frame rate reduced due to lower clock speed of i7 5820K because most of the games are still single threaded where the performance of single core is still the main important factor, we are still miles away from multithreaded games, hopefully DX12 and Vulkan can help to speed up a bit (lower CPU overhead) sweat.gif

I won't recommend you to go from i7 4790K to i7 5820K/6800K unless your workload is heavily dependent on CPU.

Will consider your recommendation on upgrading the ram. Rm100 for increase from 2400 to 3000 seemed justifiable.

As for the monitor.....i really want a 27 inchers....but a 27 with 1440p is way out of my budget.....

I really appreciate your help, i am waiting for the 1060 to arrive next week, and good to go.

I am not sure about the 1060...but based on online leaks, the zotac will be 6gb?

As for psu, im still open to change....i really like the modular tier 1 super flower...but if seasonic is cheaper and better....i really have to reconsider....

The kingston v400 is that cheap? Will have to confirm with etech later...

The id-cooling is recommended by etech....its not good? I will consider similar performance cooler with similar price....

Thank you bro, appreciate your help

Hi guys i'm looking into a entry level/ mid range gaming rig. I'm completely new to this. Been browsing the net and i'm leaning towards the AMD x4 860k black edition (most likely i will be OCing) cpu for the rig (FM2+) and a A88x mobo and probably lookinginto getting a GTX 750 ti.

I would like some suggestions on building the rig i.e parts etc

[B][Budget] 2k

[Purpose] Gaming, browsing the web and media consumption (movies, music)

[Monitor resolution]1080p

I would like a rig that could play triple A titles at a decent frame rate. Something that would not make me rage but not too OP hahahah smile.gif

Another questions how big difference in terms of perfromance between the gtx 750 ti and the gtx 950 or compared to the R7 GPU

If there is any other suggestions such as an Intel rig please do give your opinion or other AMD GPU. im looking for best bang for the buck in terms of performance for the budget I have.

Thanks

Yep I know 27" 1440p is out of your budget, it is just a reference for you, nothing wrong for 27" to have 1080p panel, bunch of TVs out there are still rocking at 1080p (> 32"+).

Since you can afford the Superflower Leadex Gold unit, so just go for it, a good PSU is always a good investment.

Kingston SSDNow UV400 is a new series, it is much cheaper than other brands, just don't expect it can match the performance of Samsung 850, but it is fast enough for daily/casual use. 120GB is around RM 150, 240GB is around RM 250.

ID-cooling is more like "entry-level" brand, RM 200+ for "entry level" AIO liquid cooler is somehow ok but some of the good CPU air coolers are able to outperform it. Depends on you, there is always a risk of liquid leakage when you use liquid cooler, air cooler is far more safe than liquid cooler. If you are a heavy overclockers then some of the air coolers might not able to cope with the heat dissipated by the CPU.

Since you are pairing with a low end GPU due to budget constraint, have a overclockable CPU isn't going to give you any significant performance bump because you aren't being limited by the CPU performance.

FM2+ is a dead socket, no more upgrade path because AMD stopped all the developments for this socket since few years ago, it is not recommended to dump money into a dead platform when you can get something that has s better out-of-box performance, i.e. Intel Core i3.

Intel Core i3 6098P - RM 477
Asus H110M-K - RM 273
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 130
Zotac GTX950 2GB GDDR5 Single Fan - RM 619
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 209
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 166
Tecware F3 - RM 119

Total: RM 1993 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

GTX950 is slightly faster than GTX760 in some games so it is a no brainier to choose it over the other GPUs at similar price range.

RM 1000 budget can get a new Zotac GTX970 Reference (RM 999) or Dual Fan version (RM 1029) which is 3 times faster than your current GTX560.

A locked i5 (non overclockable officially but overclockable "unofficially" via BCLK overclocking) on a Z170, are you planning to overclock the CPU? If yes then you have 2 paths, one with BCLK overclocking (i5 6500 is the best choice here due to higher base clock), another one is the 6600K which supports overclocking officially.

GPU battle - this one has to be decided next week because the review and benchmark (official one) of GTX1060 haven't released yet (19th July), but from the current info that we have, GTX1060 is more worth in money.

CPU cooler can be dropped to save cost if you aren't going to overclock the CPU.

Hmm are you looking for full set (including monitor, keyboard, mouse, speaker etc) or just the rig itself?

Aites Thanks for the input @terence_nwb. Is it worth it to OC the cpu with this mobo? No bottleneck issue?

As explained earlier, you can hardly bottleneck a low/mid end GPU, Skylake Core i3 has enough juice to provide the resources that GTX950 is going to request and nope, you cannot overclock the i3 on non-Z170 mobo.

Yup planning to OC with BCLK method. The site (overclocking.guide) advise on taking i5 6400 since it is cheaper. But seeing the difference just about ~RM60 compared to i5 6500, might take i5 6500 into consideration

GPU waiting for the upcoming review

CPU cooler i think just for the aesthetic LOL

Anyway thanks for your reply
