is the igpu w/o oc of the 6th gen intel cpu powerful as gt 750m oc-ed ?
a bit confused.

need backup rig recommendation w/ rm1.5k budget if lappy die.

HD 530 is almost equivalent to GT740/R7 250 which is slightly more powerful than GT750M.

Yes, if you oc it, it is likely to have GT650's performance.

Hi guys...

Need help in building a completely new rig to replace my dead laptop. The budget is RM1500. If possible the performance  be better than my Lenovo Y400. The budget is for the whole set including monitor. If not possible, just lists the parts for the pc only...

I will use it for engineering/3d modelling softwares and gaming, mostly gaming...

Thank you very very much for your troubles biggrin.gif
*
1.5k is a very low budget so don't expect it will provide you a lot of performance improvements over your old laptop (is it i7 3630QM + GT750M 2GB GDDR5 version?)

What games you wish to play? Dota 2, CS:GO? Or triple A titles?

And BTW don't include monitor in your 1.5k budget, allocate another small amount of money for it.

Yes, that's the one....
I usually play AAA titles.. And I usually prefer smooth fps over beautiful graphics, if I have to choose... Those recent games are already decent at low settings in my eyes...
*
i7 3630QM is a quad core octa thread mobile CPU while the cheapest desktop equivalent (in terms of core/thread) is i7 which will cost you 1.5k (yes it will take all your available budget).

1.5k can only get you this,

Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 496
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 289
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 168
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149

Total: RM 1505 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

No dedicated GPU so you need to rely on the iGPU for the time being, the performance is almost equivalent to GT740/R7 250, get a more powerful GPU next time when you have more money, the PSU should be able to support it provided you aren't going for the most high end GPU.

I've been asking around and I found one suggesting me this for 1.5k

Proc: Intel Pentium G320 3.2.GHz
Mobo: H81M G1 gaming
Ram: Hyper X 8 GB ram
GPU: ASUS GTX 750ti
HDD: 1TB hdd
Casing: T1X armageddon
PSU: FSP Hexa 650watt

How does this fare compared to your suggestion? Is the price similar?
*
A lot of missing/wrong information listed.

There is no G320 CPU, no H81M G1 gaming mobo, no FSP Hexa 650 PSU in the market and an unknown model of Asus GTX750Ti (1GB or 2GB?)

If you mean G3250 CPU then take note that it is last gen hardware (some people will mind, so just FYI), it is a pure dual core CPU (w/o HT), so this is a very huge downgrade from your current laptop.

If you run Dota 2/CS:GO with this specs, then you can expect to run at fairly high settings, for triple A titles, this dual core CPU might cause some issues.

As for price, it is slightly expensive than the previously suggested build but it comes with a dedicated GPU.

So it's better to build the previous spec and just add a gpu somewhere down the line right..
Is this gtx 750 ti good enough for my needs, used with your spec?
*
For your current situation, yes I recommend to go for Skylake i3 and use the iGPU for casual gaming for the time being and add a more powerful GPU later when you have money for it.

Running triple A titles with GTX750Ti is not really ideal as the frame rate it can produce is not so encouraging even with the all the settings on low, but your choice, if you are ok with this then go ahead.

No problem, you can consider PowerColor R9 270 too, around RM 530 only but it is much faster than GTX750Ti.

QUOTE(NyD-WiLL @ Mar 5 2016, 02:06 AM)
Hi, i build my PC 3 years ago and recently i plan to mini upgrade it. Below is my PC specs:

i3 3220
Kingston 8GB RAM DDR3
P8Z77-V LK Mother Board
GTX 650Ti
1TB WD Hard Disk
GS700 Corsair Power Supply
GM Storm Stout 2 Case
Samsung DVD Writer
Samsung 23' Monitor

I only play League Of Legends for the past 2 years. So, i think i will only purchase a SSD, add another 8 GB RAM and change my OS to 64 bit.

Question:
1. What SSD you guys recommend me?
2. I heard OS 64 bit can support more than 8 GB RAM unlike 32 bit. Is that right? Will my computer become faster after i change to OS 64 bit with 16 GB RAM?
3. DDR3 or DDR4 RAM for my PC? Will DDR4 overkill?

The main reason i doing these upgrades because i only play League Of Legends nowadays and my pc still can handle it well without much fps drop. The only thing that bother me is, sometimes when i playing LOL with Google Chrome on or with other programs on like music player or etc, i can clearly feeling my pc is heavier and the game is not as smooth as if i turn off all background programs.

Thanks.
*
Adding SSD is enough, your RAM is already 8GB and just change your 32 bit OS to 64 bit OS and you can fully utilize the 8GB RAM.

16GB is quite overkill for normal people, unused RAM is wasted RAM, so just stick with 8GB for now, you will only notice the difference when your RAM usage is > 8GB.

RAM socket supported is depend on your mobo model, only X99 and the latest Skylake chipset (H110, B150, H170 & Z170) mobo can utilize DDR4, yours is Z77 chipset and it is using DDR3 so DDR4 isn't supported.

As for SSD, you didn't state your budget, so I will just go with Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD for now, around RM 210 in the market.

[Budget] RM3300

[Purpose] Gaming and programming (if game need high fps in high settings in the witcher 3 as an example)

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor,Keyboard, mouse

[Monitor resolution] 1920x1080 or 1920×1200

[Games & softwares that use frequently] dota 2, battlefield 4, final fantasy series, metal gear solid, the witcher series and lots of newest game

[Personal preferences] prefer smaller in size coz easy to carry to my university

[Location] Terengganu (can postage)

Need help build it..bdw i prefer a good cooling system
*
ITX rig always has cooling issue due to its compact size, not saying it will overheat easily, just the temperature is slightly higher than non-ITX build.

Witcher 3 in high settings with high FPS (I assume 60?) requires at least GTX970/R9 390, your budget cannot fit either of them and GTX960/R9 380 will yield around 40 FPS (average) in high settings, either you top up your budget or live with it.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 769
MSI B150I Gaming Pro - RM 519
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 168
Zotac GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1397
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
CM Elite 130 - RM 178

Total: RM 3434 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If cannot accept over bugdet, downgrade to GTX960/R9 380/R9 380X (the extra fund can use to get a SSD) or completely switch to mATX build (bigger in size).

Ya. I feel so silly. Haha.
Since i don't need to upgrade RAM now so i have more budget for SSD. May i know what is the SSD difference besides price?
Hopefully you can list out some SSD which you think is good with prices and differences regardless of my budget so i can choose one from there. 120GB is enough for me.
Is it possible i add one new SSD and use my old HD for my animes, movies and music storage? Just check my HD and i find it still have 600GB free.
*
Read/write speed, IOPS, warranty, quality control etc.

You can choose from Samsung 850 EVO, Samsung 750 EVO, Samsung 650 Basic, Kingston HyperX Fury, Transcend 370 etc.

Samsung 850 EVO is the most expensive among them, the difference between them is really hard to notice in real life apart from those benchmarking statistics, so either one of them is fine.

Yes you can use SSD and HDD alongside.

hi, need help for rig recommendation.

budget - 2.5k
usage - 3d max, autocad, gaming( usually indie game)
additional hardware: monitor

Thank you.

The additional hardware means you already have it or need to include it in the budget?

*
Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 796
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 289
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 168
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 400W - RM 145
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149
BenQ GW2270 - RM 429

Total: RM 2191 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

The rest of the budget can only get a GT730/R7 250 which is having similar performance of the integrated GPU (HD 530) so it is not worth to spend money on it.

You can use the remaining budget to get another 8GB RAM or 120GB SSD (recommended).

just out of curiosity,
what is spec for a rig that could rival xbox1 @ 720p?

I heard xbox1 resolution is dependant on tv's anyway.
*
If your TV is 1080p (usually), then the game will run on 1080p, but due to hardware limitation, normally games developers will make the game to run at 900p (1600 x 900) or 1440 x 1080 to keep everything at stable 30 FPS.

i3 + GTX750Ti is the most commonly used specs to benchmark games between PC and Xbox One, you can check all those comparison videos on DigitalFoundry's YouTube channel, they make comparison and analysis videos for almost every triple A titles during the release.

I'm planning to build a desktop for apps development specifically using the Android Studio.

Budget - Below 5k
Usage - Android Studio, probably using the AVD (Android Virtual Device) that may consume much RAM usage.
Additional Hardware -  A decent monitor for coding & programming

The criteria of course it can run the Android Studio intensively, at least with 16GB RAM & processor that support hyper threading & accelerator.
Tq tq in advance.

New Android Emulator with Google APIs that comes with Android Studio uses Intel HAXM technology is quite fast and smooth even on i3 + 8GB RAM.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1324

Hi guys,

I haven't upgraded my pc in a long time now. With a budget of around 1.5k - 2k, what can I look to change? The specs are in my signature below. I was thinking of maybe changing my gpu but is there anything else I should change instead?
*
What makes you feel like want to upgrade? Poor gaming performance? If yes then what games are you playing now?

Yeah, definitely poor gaming performance. I'm playing games like Dying light, Witcher, GTA V and etc. Can't really go high-ultra on those games and its a bummer
*
Get R9 390 8GB and a new PSU.

Sapphire R9 390 8GB GDDR5 Nitro - RM 1549
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363

Total: RM 1912 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If you don't want to change PSU, then go for GTX970, its power consumption is much lower than R9 390 and you can keep using your current PSU.

Their raw performance is almost similar, R9 390 has advantage on high VRAM usage games (8GB vs 4GB) while GTX970 pulls ahead in GameWorks titles.

Oh okey, how about if i were to build the i3+ 16GB RAM configuration how much does it cost, & does the SSD really help in running Android Studio more faster?
*
Just downgrade the i7 to i3 6100 (RM 496), can save around RM 800+.

I personally tested to run Android Studio on i3, so far it was ok for me, maybe my code isn't too heavy yet so no significant slow down on i3, if your budget allows, opt for i5/i7 (more future proof).

SSD speeds up the booting of Android Studio and get all the modules loaded as fast as possible, you can remove it if you are ok with HDD or want to save cost.
