[Budget] Below Rm3k

[Purpose] 3Ds Max, AutoCAD & etc designing software

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None

[Monitor resolution] 1920 * 1080

[Location] KL

Need CPU and monitor(23"-24")..

Since current market price between Haswell & Skylake wont have a lot different, suggest to get Skylake right?

Normally those design softwares is recommended to use nVidia GPU right? if use skylake i3 with higher end nViadia GPU, will it bottleneck?

Focus on CPU (at least i5) then only spend the rest on GPU since some software use GPU only during rendering process, CPU is still the main factor during normal operation.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 782
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 289
Corsair 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 324
Palit GTX750Ti 2GB GDDR5 StormX OC - RM 509
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149
BenQ GL2460 - RM 510

Total: RM 2966 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Thanks for your recommendation..if I replace the GPU with R9 280X, will it better than GTX750Ti? Cuz i can get it cheap..just worry the performance in rendering will not as good as nVidia.. hmm.gif

R9 280X is much faster than GTX750Ti in terms of raw power.

But 3Ds Max is able to utilize Nvidia's CUDA to speed up the rendering operation though.
*
Thats why..this PC mainly for design, wont be using it for gaming..so nVidia is better?
How fast is CUDA in rendering compare to R9 280X or R9 290 or R9 290X? wink.gif
If similar price range, recommended get which 1?

I haven't had chance to test it in real life but you can try to find the statistics and comparison online.

I suggest you to stick with GTX750Ti because if you change to AMD card (R9 280 and above), you are recommended to get a more decent PSU which may cause over budget.

Oh..i see..
Guess will stick to new GPU instead of used 1.. wink.gif

Thanks again bro..

Hi,

Currently using Gigabyte GTX 560(GV-N56GOC-1GI), but recently got problem which the driver will randomly crash..reinstall new driver but still failed..

Can recommend me new GPU with similar performance or better within Rm1000 budget?

PSU using is Xigmatek NRP-VC603..

RM 1000 budget can get a new Zotac GTX970 Reference (RM 999) or Dual Fan version (RM 1029) which is 3 times faster than your current GTX560.

Plan to get:-
Intel Core i7 6700
Asus H170 PRO
Kingston DDR4 2133 16GB(8GB*2)
FSP Hexa+ 550w
Bitfenix Nova

Use back:-
Hard disk x2
Palit GTX950 StormX Dual
DVD Writer

My question is, Asus H170 PRO is it enough for Intel i7 CPU? Will it bottleneck the processor performance?
Since I got GPU, can I use Xeon processor to replace the i7 6700? XEON E3 1220 V5 is selling for RM899.
Or XEON E3 1220 V5 performance only can compare with i5 6600?

No mobo will bottleneck the locked i7, even with the cheapest H110 mobo, you just get more on-board features with better chipset.

Skylake Xeon only usable on C232 chipset mobo, it doesn't work on normal consumer grade mobo anymore.

If you are going for Xeon path, you need to look for Xeon E3 1230 V5 instead of Xeon E3 1220 V5, the latter CPU is 4C4T which is basically an i5 (between i5 6400 and i5 6500), 1230 V5 is 4C8T and is competing directly with i7 6700.

It is an entry level aftermarket cooler, it performs slightly better than stock cooler and suitable for non-OC build, if your ambient temperature is high (~30C), then I suggest you to get a better one like CM Hyper 212X.
