Where you stay? Maybe i can go over your place and listen to it  first before buying  drool.gif . Actually i don't quite get what tight means but i know the boominess because i owned an AL 4121 which is popular for its boominess tongue.gif.

1. Does tight means when the bass is release out, you can fill the heart jumping feeling? Is this what tight and powerful bass means?

You mentioned "The S2.1d loose on those department, but have stronger power output, and doesn't distort as much as the S2.1m at loud volume wink.gif" which means S2.1M music is distorted when in louder volume which i take it as a big letdown. If music started to become distorted when volume just reach the mid level of the maximum knob, it means the speaker itself is not capable to produce a higher and powerful output. Is that not so?

Boominess and tight.....If you have test something like Gmx 2.1 maybe you will know what is tight bass....and for boooominess go audition logitech Z2300...and play some same song and you will know..... biggrin.gif

For s2.1m the distortion will not really that bad or a big let down... cry.gif
Its just distort a lilttle like my R401 will distort if you hear properly at loud volume....
I think you couldnt hear the distortion except you turn on loudly or max...I dont think you will turn on until max if like this sure got distort la..other problem is soundcard....dont blame all the mistake at the speaker...the source also very important....you play low quality song then you will get the same low quality and dont expect it will get more better....It's just the matter of the taste of owner..like me, I like AegoM in clarity.... laugh.gif
I think if you audition the speakers that u interested maybe you get clearer than we just say.....correct me if I wrong..sry.. notworthy.gif

A little bit hard to explain heheh...anyways, tight means it comes out as one, solid a bass. Loose bass; imo the bass feels soft, and not so control. The heart jumping feeling is more to deep bass. For bass, imo edifier speakers doesn't go so deep. About the volume thing, what exterminator said is right. wink.gif

for very low quality songs, you will hear all sorts of weird noise coming out at times. So, good source + good soundcard do make a difference smile.gif

Was wondering why seldom heard people discussing about this speaker.

I do agree that the S2.1M feels underpowered. The loudness output isn't that loud. I only push the volume up when I'm taking a shower though, gotta listen to music every time man.

So far, its performing well, very good instrument separation and the bass is pretty accurate, though it isn't the tightest bass, but it is still pretty tight. The sound staging is quite freaking wide, for gaming, when I play CS:S I can really hear the opponents footsteps from far to near. Which is gives a good advantage.
Mids are strong and sweet, the highs are clear but not shrill [a major improvement over the VS4121, which the highs is really shrilly.]

One thing I did really like bout the VS4121 down-firing design is that it directs the sound multi-directional, but it drowns the mids a little.
The S2.1M has small design flaw, they should have angled the midrange driver and the tweeter slightly upwards, cause we won't get to hear every single detail if the sound is directed to our shoulder.

About the distortion on higher volumes, so far I only experience that on less well encoded digital audio, no such problems with most of my lossless audio and higher bitrate encoded digital audio formats.
All in all, an excellent buy. I'm a satisfied user.
