Would it be cheaper if you are slapped with 7% S'pore GST and for reason you are unlucky the Customs charged you 20%excise duty plus 10%sales Tax; only releasing your goods after getting Sirim AP which is RM70 or is it RM150?

William, as said, you'll gamble with the customs but I've not heard anyone slapped with excise duty.. at most you need to pay the 10% sales tax and show your AA and they'll let you go. On the GST .. since the equipment are for export only, bring along necessary PO when you go down.. they'll gladly not charge you GST at the point of purchase .. but no idea if the gov. will bill you up later on ..

Anyway, for those who're going to drive down, do remember that it might not save you anything if you're slapped by customs charges.

There are few members got slapped with excise duty and their sets temporary confiscated until they produce SIRIM AP to release the sets. One member ended up paying more for the set as he have to stay 2 nights in JB (got stop on Saturday at Tuas Customs), Monday go to JB's sirim to get AP. The set cost him only RM1200 but ended paying 10%ST + duty + AP fee + hotel accommodation.

I too have not heard of any real "excise duty". What I know are the special "excise duty" of RM30-50 per unit. I got hit by a RM50 "excise" recently, all these without receipts la.

If you are driving you own car, not a problem. I am going to try my luck again this weekend at Sun East for a Moto GM338 unless Saswilee you can find me one locally.

Wiraone, I be visiting your phua also and see if he really do not have what we want hehehe. Update you on Tuesday when I am back.

ps. be on the lookout at www.mudah.com.my too, I bought a pair of used (VHF) GP328s for RM600 tongue.gif .
Just arrived from post laju. Now I am a bit worried of being password locked hehehe then I am *beep*, will know tonight when I re-programme it haha.
Seller do not know anything about what they are selling at times.

Go here and find one that is still available:

http://www.skmm.gov.my/registers1/aa.asp?c...aa=AARadio&fpg=

(note: if it returns error, it means that the callsign is available)

And if you know perl, I could pass you the perl script that 9M2CIO has coded to grab all callsigns that already registered.

QRT = Shall I stop sending/Stop sending

This Q code is used initially for morse code but it seems that everybody has adopted it for voice. More on Q codes.
