you can blame the weak RM when flagship now inching 3k. u can't say so when S7 sells for RM2599 and X going for RM2499.

Want to earn more money per phone sold aka apple way. Problem is sony don't have as many isheeps to buy thier products this tactic is going to bite them very hard in the butt.

Even its able to outperform those flagship devices, thus it make sense to price it at flagship price? If they have common sense, by having a midranger that capable to beat out competitors flagship and price it at more affordable price, and utilize it to market it to customers, perhaps they can sell more devices to the mass.

For me, if want to buy flagship phone and even some midrange able to best it out, I still choose the flagship for overall package. Extra 1gb ram also doen't hurt to have it.

Yup agree to this. They should price it in the mid high range and market it as the mid ranger that can compete with flagships. In my opinion it was a corporate decision to price it flagship and cheap out on specs to get more profit per phone sold regardless of public opinion. They want to be the apple in android. Question is will they survive long with this tactic?

I hope there will be backlash in terms of sales so that can teach them a lesson.
Anyway, missed the time using Sony's phone. I do like rectangular slab phone.

Argh. Continue to use your m5 better. 2499 adoi. So ass pain. Cpu with A72 is powerful. But gpu in s650 is normal average.


Different display panel. S7 got software glitches. Need optimise again. X do have powerful A72 core supported there. But gpu still is a weak point. And most importantly, the price. Rm2499 is way too high. I will rather choose Z5 Dual at 2299.

Just kidding Bro.. X not really able to outperform than s7 la. Just software optimisation between these 2 phones are slightly different. S7 still better than X in overall aspect. Consumers will know how to value the stuff now. Rm2499 is very very tough price.. No waterproof, lower gpu specs. Sony really confident with their camera parts. X series most advertised features was on camera predictive autofocus.

i hope sony have another flagship device coming this IFA... if not, this will be the worst year for sony mobile to date

everytime I go to the mall and look at Sony shop I feel sad. most of the time the shop either empty or got only 1-2 customers. looks like the X screams more like a NO instead.

The xa and xa ultra still got alil hope but x really no saving. Sony practically dug thier grave then jump in and wait for consumers to bury them with the x series line up. The product line up using mtk soc but priced much higher then chinese brands using the same soc with the camera as the main selling point. Heck even most of the chinese brands are using snapdragons at that price point.

From a business perspective, it's not easy as consumer think.

The cost of a phone cannot compare like A with A ( Snapdragon 650 vs 650 in this case).
First, structural design, hardware design.. PCB trial, software design, packing material design, inspection, certification, volume production. in every stage, do have any customise parts will incur extra costs.

It's like from motherboard, screen, camera, housing, battery, and a lot a lot of elements from components selection.

Wah dont tell me thier chinese counterparts do not do the same and just copy what sony does? If im not mistaken you work in Intel no? So you should also know the majority of bom cost is always never more then 2/3(highest i have seen) of enduser price for consumer product. So don't tell me sony is so bad in thier economies to scale that they lose out to Chinese companys that sell products within asian region vs worldwide to sony?
