IMO, the Elac Debut B5/B6 are more suited for HT usage though vs the QA 3020. Its tweeters are just a little more broader, airier, and overall just more dynamic. The void between the mid-bass of 80-120hz (where generally the crossover is set at) is also filled much better by the Elac B6, which makes for better sub integration.
That said, if size is an issue the QA3020 is a much better pick. |

QUOTE(rizal77 @ Aug 25 2016, 08:36 AM) I just notice that my rx v379 cannot play flac files directly!!! Good to know that you had a nice experience with Lim. nooooooooooooooo... By the way, met Mr Lim. Great guy...thinking of buying next budget subwoofer after the budget elac B6. Any recommendation guy to accompanied the B6? Appreciate your input guys!! thank you in advance Please don't be stingy in buying a subwoofer. You have to spend some money here. You can call Chong, 012 6116917, from actsessory.com to audition his dual SVS subwoofer setup. This will give you an idea how good subwoofers should sound like. If budget is a constrain, IIANM Lim has a display unit, SVS PB1000, for sale. I do believe that the PB1000 is the minimum standard of subwoofer you should get. |

QUOTE(rizal77 @ Aug 25 2016, 08:36 AM) I just notice that my rx v379 cannot play flac files directly!!! According to the manual, the v379 only supports WAV, MP3, WMA and MP4 with up to 48khz sampling rate.nooooooooooooooo... By the way, met Mr Lim. Great guy...thinking of buying next budget subwoofer after the budget elac B6. Any recommendation guy to accompanied the B6? Appreciate your input guys!! thank you in advance As for the sub, you will really have to look at the amount of space you have first. The room size is the key factor to choosing a sub, not that one can't put a 20" dual sub driver in a 100 sq.feet room, but if you can't fit it then it makes very little sense. Like cypaq said, don't cheap out on the sub. Get a real sub, not a fart box. If you can spring for an SVS, then for sure do it; they won't disappoint. ELAC's own S12EQ sub is no slouch either and can almost go head to head with SVS own PB1000 (which is similarly priced). Again, depending on the space you have, you will need to pick between a ported or sealed sub. Good ported subs are usually the way to go for movies and games, while the notion of ported subs sounding flabby or bloated for music is only reserved to poorly designed subs. Heavily suggest ported sub if space allows. |

And another thing whether front firing or down firing? if my house got sofa near the system, I should go for down firing?? Down firing, side firing, upfiring, forward firing... it doesn't actually matter that much. What critically matters is where the sub is placed. Sub placement = vital. |

QUOTE(myxery @ Aug 23 2016, 11:23 AM) beli sajalah mana2 yang berkenan. Hehe. Dlm dunia AV ni, tak ada beli sekali untuk selamanya. Nanti akan beli lagi, dan lagi, dan lagi... as for me, i am budget buyer also, 3 years back beli Onkyo SR 3 series during Desa promotion, last year beli lagi yamaha rx-v377 dekat KLIAV 2015. I am very happy with my purchase even the budget entry level one. I paham memang dunia AV ni takder limit. Selalu nak yg terbaik dan bila dah nak dapat, lagi baik punya keluar! |

Don't really agree on that bro.Good speakers are forever good speakers. Good sound is, well good sound. Speakers aren't like TVs or computers where every 6 months something better is at the horizon. Thing is, don't take all of this so super seriously. Once you achieve good sound, just give it a rest and enjoy your content. After all, that's the whole point isn't it? |

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Aug 27 2016, 02:48 PM) Don't really agree on that bro. I meant was the AV receiver. Like Yamaha RX-479, I wish I could get 481 but the price was far way pricey and now I wish I could get a Yamaha receiver with Dolby Atmos even if it's just an entry level at great bargain. Sigh....this is my problem! Good speakers are forever good speakers. Good sound is, well good sound. Speakers aren't like TVs or computers where every 6 months something better is at the horizon. Thing is, don't take all of this so super seriously. Once you achieve good sound, just give it a rest and enjoy your content. After all, that's the whole point isn't it? But I do agree that speakers or subwoofers will be just fine to stick with it over the longer term. |

Sigh....this is my problem! Hold on, what makes you want the v481 so much over the v479? They are pretty much the same exact receiver with the exception that the v481 can passthrough 4k60p at 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. Unless you're running a PC through to your 4k TV, it's not that big of a deal. But I do agree that speakers or subwoofers will be just fine to stick with it over the longer term. You save more by just buying last year's model actually, which you definitely should. As for Atmos, seriously just forget Atmos in all these low-end receivers. I've been telling people for a while now, if you want to do Atmos, do it right. 5.1.2 is a barely acceptable solution, that's really even if you aren't already starving that poor little receiver out of power by driving 7 speakers. |
