psst: some say it is money making industry.

My opinion: safety first. If really dangerous during labour, then go for caesarean. This method works well for my wife in terms of relax and does not feel so much pain during labour. At least she is mentally prepared for it. Some get brain wash until insist on the natural birth. Good Luck and congratulation rclxms.gif

Dear "fathers in arm"... any of you have experience with feeding and bottle?

My son would suck and gulp down milk very "furious" for the 1st 5 - 10min and cause choking after i switch his bottle teat from SS to S. I switch the bottle teat back to SS which eliminate his choking problem but take longer to drink and consume lesser milk (from 3oz reduce to 2.5oz each time) as it takes more energy to suck the milk out and he doze off after that.

my concern is should i continue using SS size teat or he need to adept with S teat? I dont really mind feed him longer period during midnight, but longer sucking time might suck in more air and consume less milk than usual, and faster hungry time sweat.gif

** my son drink breast milk.

How many months already? My daughter did face this problem initially, then switch back to normal. Yeah, she drinks slower but continue to suck until finish though. Until she is 6 months old, we start feeding her with puree and reduce the milk consumption. Even now she is 2 years old, we feed her 5 Oz for Breakfast and Supper (before sleep).

Before anyone comment my daughter is malnutrition, I can assure you that my daughter is healthy and growing as normal kids do. We will make sure she finish her food and vegetables for breakfast, lunch and dinner and balance diet.

he is about 1 1/2 months old. and yea, think will continue with SS teat.

since you mentioned about finishing their milk, at times i'm not sure whether to soothe him to finish the balance milk (about 1oz to 1/2 oz) as he will use his tongue to push the teat out, or just go idle without moving or go sleepy mode:sweat: during newborn to 1st month, i will still soothe him to finish it, however after few times he vomited milk (not just bringing up small quantities of milk, the mouth go "o" shape like adult and vomit), i'm kinda unsure to continue or not. There are articles mentioned not to force baby to finish balance milk, once they show sign of rejection should stop feeding.

nowadays i will still soothe him (but not long period, probably 5 - 10 minutes depends on how well he take it), let him drink as much as possible till he is really sleepy or show too much rejection. please do share your experience. tq

well i disagree with Yveatel in waking up the baby to train his muscle

once a baby is full, they will stop drinking..that's a good cue to stop feeding

at least that's what my pediatrician's advise is

if they are hungry, they will ask for more..else they will jst play with the teat

Hi guys... thank you for your sharing. I have done few trial on different matters, and yea, i changed to SS teat and no longer have choking issue. Even my wife breastfeed would experience choking by my son. doh.gif

normally i would still soothe him to finish his milk if it is about 1/2 oz or around the teat areas and he did a good job to finish it without playing the teat, just takes a little longer. At times he would doze off without finishing his milk sweat.gif that i would leave it as it is without disturb him, even after changing diapers doesn't wake him up.

Problem with stop feeding the moment he stopped drinking, the feeding time gap is rather short. about 2 hours gap, compare to 3 - 4 hours if he finish his milk (3oz). In addition, i'm a person who doesn't like wasting food, thus would prefer him to finish his milk than just left a bit (about 1/2 oz or lesser) everytime. Even 1oz i would give a try, but not forcing too much as normally wouldn't finish if it's 1 oz or more. Just keep it moderate, to an extend of his limit.

Welcome to parenthood lol. I would never wake a sleeping baby to feed though. Feed on demand only. If breast milk. Even can't finish. Can still keep a while. Formula have to throw.
