my suggestion is to best not expose kids to tv

as it is they see it when we are watching tv, so if possible ( i know during feeding time it may be a good distraction, otherwise it is best to minimize TV exposure)

on the other hand, i know how language skills are picked up from watching TV

unfortunately, bad habits, bad behavior and facial expression is also mostly picked up from cartoons

especially the peppa pig cartoon, i am shocked at how it is allowed to be shown to kids even tongue.gif

He's not wrong. It's in the article.

Motor skills
Boys' gross motor skills (running, jumping, balancing) tend to develop slightly faster, while girls' fine motor skills (holding a pencil, writing) improve first.

Verbal skills
More boys than girls are late talkers, and boys may use more limited vocabularies.

Boys' gross motor skills (running, jumping, balancing) tend to develop slightly faster, while girls' fine motor skills (holding a pencil, writing) improve first. For this reason, girls may show an interest in art (painting, coloring, crafts) before boys.

QUOTE
More boys than girls are late talkers, and boys may use more limited vocabularies. Girls tend to be better at reading nonverbal signs, like tone of voice and expression, which also makes them better communicators early on because they can connect feelings and words faster.

I'm showing all the old 70s and 80s donald duck cartoon, disney music video songs(Beauty and the beast, alladdin, snow white, cinderella etc).

No issues here, doesn't seem to be addicted to it even though he enjoys watching it.

one more thing when ur kids reach 1.5 yrs old.. let the kid sitdown or crawl position then take a small ball an throw the opposite site.. do it ard five times.. the outcome the kid eyeball will follow the ball direction..

if no.. you need to observe ur kid after few months n try again..

i got this info from a padae dr during my biz trip to aussir last 13 years at sdyney..

you cam refer to below link for earlh detection of autism

Yes. I still quote it though. It's the same for both my boys. Significantly slower than my friends or cousins daughters. I feel mine start to pick up once they reached about 2 years old. Even my mom told me boys are slow learner when I comment about my son slow progress.

Hi all,
First time father here..my wife is expected to due in October, so its 3 more months to go. Am a bit nervous because I have no knowledge in taking care of kids. My wife on other hand have experience in this! thanks god

Been shopping for baby products for few months. Had bought cots, sterilizers, baby bottles, teets, bathing liquid, and baby toys.

Now am confused to buy baby carrier or car seat? My wife don't like me to spend so much money on these gadgets as there are many more to spend in coming days.

We have chose Tung Shin Hospital to deliver as our regular gynae is there.

congrats bro! go read up a bit about parenting, its not that difficult, just stressful hehe. but all simple tasks. first few months easy as they cant run away ahhah. just research baby safety. such as no bumpers, how to sleep lah. SIDS lah. all those things.

my advise is go borrow the baby carrier & car seat from someone for the first 6 months.

for newborn the stroller and car seat have certain requirements. like need to fully lie down and such. best to borrow from someone for a few months and then invest in a better one when your kid is a bit older.

now at least got pretty good selection of things from Sweet Cherry (local brand but made in china). pretty decent quality and cheap. im using sweet cherry ISOFIX carseat. i think its from 4kg and up. forgot.

+1

For newly born you dont need this things yet, as it is expensive and you wont be using is straight away. plus it must follow your kids weight, which you wont know until he/she is born.
