Hi all,
First time father here..my wife is expected to due in October, so its 3 more months to go. Am a bit nervous because I have no knowledge in taking care of kids. My wife on other hand have experience in this! thanks god

Been shopping for baby products for few months. Had bought cots, sterilizers, baby bottles, teets, bathing liquid, and baby toys.

Now am confused to buy baby carrier or car seat? My wife don't like me to spend so much money on these gadgets as there are many more to spend in coming days.

We have chose Tung Shin Hospital to deliver as our regular gynae is there.

congrats bro! go read up a bit about parenting, its not that difficult, just stressful hehe. but all simple tasks. first few months easy as they cant run away ahhah. just research baby safety. such as no bumpers, how to sleep lah. SIDS lah. all those things.

my advise is go borrow the baby carrier & car seat from someone for the first 6 months.

for newborn the stroller and car seat have certain requirements. like need to fully lie down and such. best to borrow from someone for a few months and then invest in a better one when your kid is a bit older.

now at least got pretty good selection of things from Sweet Cherry (local brand but made in china). pretty decent quality and cheap. im using sweet cherry ISOFIX carseat. i think its from 4kg and up. forgot.

+1

For newly born you dont need this things yet, as it is expensive and you wont be using is straight away. plus it must follow your kids weight, which you wont know until he/she is born.

Thanks bro. I surveyed few brands and most of them have car seat from new born 0-4 yrs old but I worried its too early to use right?
Since baby haven't developed the bone / neck and its quite soft to sit in car seat but yet I did saw some ppl use them for few days born baby.
Investing in baby carrier have hold me back since at most it can be used up to 1yr only...I dont wish to spend few hundreds on this.

Unfortunately I do not have friends or relatives to borrow. sad.gif

I'd suggest to just 'pangku' the baby for a few months. You wont be going out much anyways as the baby is newly born.

In my case, my son was 4 months then i buy a Car seat, bought the one that is included with stroller. Don't have baby carrier up till now. would need to buy one soon though.. my boy is 10 months now. it depends on you actually and your daily life. Buy what you think is needed and dont spend much before your baby is born. that'd be my advice.

What you need to buy for now is 'buai', pampers abit, pampers is good for stocks as its non-expiry. but shirts and toys better buy once they are truly needed.

thats true. my son only left the house for doctors appointments for the first 3 months.

we live in Malaysia, i think almost anything is available within reach. if you in KL, almost anything can be purchased within the hour. what you should prepare is you and your wifes 'go' bag. so that you can live in the hospital with everything.

please note, hospitals discourage pacifiers or formula milk.
*
Yeah that is what I think also. For first few months don't usually go out since I scared exposed to bacteria outside.
Most is travel between home to hospital for regular check up only.
Hehe now its time for me to learn on parenting..
We will adopt a western style teaching becoz both of us hate seeing family with maid/parents feeding toddler or even pujuk them to eat.

dont forget some snacks, you aint gonna be sleeping. dont lah bring potato chips. wake the baby and your wife will kill you.

also bring a sweater for yourself. damn cold that place. especially if you going into the op theatre if opting for c-sec.

and if you got money, recommend you buy nipple cream for your waifu. if she plan to breastfeed. need to use it a few weeks before the baby to 'strengthen' the nipple before the baby attack it. hahah. but a bit mahal. i bought and waifu didnt even use, she malas or whatever, burn that money. damn.

Thanks, Ohh..what brand is that? can apply during breastfeed? Chemical free?

Hi all,
My son was born on Malaysia's day. Roughly 1 month premature from expected date. Doc says he is healthy so no incubation or nicu. Thanks God!
He is weighed in at 2.9kg. Over the couple days I have experienced my first parenting which is good.
I just don't know why my boy will cries at night every 2 to 3 hrs even though we have feed him.

your wife? how many weeks your baby? Mine just 8 weeks yesterday, rotate with wife and so far still ok. Wife breastfeed until 1am last round, while I sleep from 9pm - 3am. Estimate baby awake by 3am, I still got about 6 hours of sleep, my wife sleeps from 2am to 7/8am.

I reached home around 6.30pm, cook, and dinner by 7.30/8pm. Sleep from 9pm - 3am.
I feed baby at 3am, 5am, and 7am before I go to work.

you need to work in shifts with your wife. otherwise you will really burn yourself out. at that time i was out of a job so in a way that was lucky haha. so can sleep during the day. because better to get 4-6 hours straight then wake up every two hours.

Baby only 6days old. My wife is in confinement so she doesn't breastfeed and only do pump in bottle.
While I Wan to let my wife rest during this 1 month. I have to do all these bottle feeding.

Does anyone have any ideas which brand of milk powder is the best for consumption?
There are a lot of brands outside and currently I am using Enfalac A+ for my newborn baby.

I found out that this brand is quite expensive if not the most expensive brand comparing with others. Just wanted to know if its due to it has extra ingredient which is good for baby / just because of the brand.

I am using Morinaga. Enfalac is expensive because it is vegetable based, no?
*
I am not sure whether its a vegetable based but its recommended by my Pediatrician.
A pack of 1.3kg can go for RM 160+ which is quite pricey.

I used S26 for quite some time, its pretty good since my kid is prematured and doesnt seem to have any issue with this milk. tried other brands doesnt seem to work well as it seems like his immunity is low.

Now 1 year+ change to sustagen
*
I heard S26 is quite heaty. My kid is actually premature too but I was given Enfalac A+ premature for my boy.
Didn't bother to change brand as long my boy is healthy.
Just to concern if its better compare with others, else why its priced way above.

Hi all,
It has been a while since I am posting here. My son is already 8 months old, how time flies.
Have anyone of you heard of Grolier home learning books for kids?

I have encountered this booth and talks during my weekend shopping.

I pretty much like the concept of the books and the talking pen (if I pronounce it correctly). The pictures are quite attractive and I hope my boy can start his reading habit from here.

The only downside is the package is expensive as it cost RM2k+ for full set of 84 books. However, it can last till 7/8 years old.

So anyone have reviews here? Thanks
