BTW, I wanted to mod the amplifier, but I can't figure what I should mod, any suggestion?
I dismantled the subwoofer and below are the pictures of the amplifier

I've the VS4121 with blue LED, but I've never heard of the yellow LED version, so can't tell the difference

If you don't have access to a desoldering and smd device workstation, forget it. Conventional removal may risk untold pcb damage.
Couple of chips there can be swapped for better ones. Perhaps the easiest and DIY mod is to obtain and install fairly thick acoustic sponge padding onto the internal walls of the woofer box. The TDA7377 chip is somewhat a bit underpowered. |

There's times I regret selling off my previous AL Model 321. The electronics and subwoofer was significantly superior.

Well, my old junk AL ADA305 also sounded better than some of the precier AL models too because the subwoofer is made from solid wood, it might be underpowered but the sound is more superior and the total weight of the speakers are indeed heavier than most of the last AL speakers. Cost cutting measure I guess.

QUOTE(sunauto @ Jan 5 2007, 02:09 AM) Given to me by a very good friend, perhaps from excess which he has used for room damping. I've seen some 1" sponge sold at a hardware/DIYhandy shop here at Taipan USJ. Acoustic sponge its not exactly cheap as Tong Lee does sell them for more than a 50 buck note a piece. End of day, its entirely up to you how much one likes to spend on modding a RM200 speaker set. |
