Hi guys. Need some input from all the master brewer here

I am planning to run a coffee stall which focuses on cold drinks only.

After much reading, a good grinder makes all the difference, so im planning to get s70 from j coffee for 1.5k (titanium flat burr, timing dose).

But for the machine, im thinking of gemilai 3605, as i dont plan on using the steamer. But em19m3 caught my attention as well. Would my latte taste much better with em19m3(as it has pid and gemilai is known for not reaching the supposed tempt)? Or should i just buy gemilai 3605 straight away as cold drinks wont differ much?

Tqia!

if you are really serious... up your budget to RM 5-10k... get a solid HX/dual boiler... this will last you 20-30 years and more... one time deal...

if you not so sure can tahan the washing up, etc... get a cheap gemilai, milesto, or something as a starter...junk it if you can't fit the routine in your life...

the Silvia was a good starter machine 15-20 yrs ago, but costs too much nowadays imho... you will quickly get tired of it once you improved on you skills/taste...

my taste buds not good enough... so I won't spend on it... plus I have enjoyed many great coffees from grinders without ssp burrs... wink.gif

anyways... milesto em30 + df64 would be more than a decent setup. I would consider these if starting again...

Awaiting acupuncture needle to come far away from China.
anyone interested? because of minimum order, it has to be so many. I'll keep myself one, the other 5 will let go (if the needles can slot in XD)

Hi, I'm thinking of getting into espresso. Can anyone suggest a decent grinder around RM1k (better if it's used) to be paired with a Gemilai CRM3605? Preferably something that can last me 2-3 years as I get better.

You can look into 1zpresso. JX-Pro, JE and Je-Plus can be used for espresso. I heard that they will launch J-Max, another new grinder that made for espresso.

Preferably not manual. I have a Hario Skerton for pour over. I found that I don't enjoy the grinding process haha.

That was my first grinder too. My experience improved tremendously when I upgraded to 1zpresso JX as it is a much more efficient grinder. 1k really hard to get a good electric espresso grinder. Unless you are pulling multiple shots a day, do consider manual grinder.

What if I stretch it to RM1.5k? I can see used Mazzer Super Joly for that price. Wonder if it's a good grinder for espresso.

I had an SJ. Built like a tank. Yes, it can do espresso; furthermore it pretty much defines 64mm flat burrs, so there are super premium alternative burrs that you can install later, like those from SSP.

Please note it is large and heavy so you really need the counter space for it (which I didn't have). Also, not optimal for single shots unless some mods are put in eg. a blowout bellows. I found retention to be an issue for home use.
