QUOTE(sunami @ Jun 1 2020, 12:27 PM) btw...where do you source the roasted beans? We sourced our beans from anywhere in the world and locally as well.. like the Bali Kintamani beans were from a roaster in Indonesia.any local roaster bean worth to try that you can recommend me? thanksĀ If the pairing of espresso machine and grinder is good.. it's worthwhile to taste the many varieties of roasted beans from the different countries.. But if the machine/grinder combo is not up to par.. spending good money on expensive beans is on the waste side.. how do you know? Compare your results with the ones from reputable cafe or coffee expo or purveyors(e.g dankoff, coffex, puro, etc.. they do provide samples upon request) This post has been edited by Tikietic: Jun 1 2020, 01:07 PM |

Why pay RM35(200g) for a Brazil Santos when there are similar Santos with 70+ score ratings going for RM22(250g)..
In fact, for filter coffee drinker.. you may even opt for Ethiopia Keffa Bonga G1 for RM30(250g) and it's a 80+ score rating beans.. Am not the seller by the way.. Just spotted it being offered now. |

QUOTE(Tikietic @ May 31 2020, 04:46 PM) So long as you manage your expectations accordingly.. There's isn't much you can expect from such machine.. You may get one which consistently gives a lower temperature extraction, hence the espresso is always towards sourish.. Or may get one that consistently have too high temperature and hence provides a bitter experience.. Stable and consistent temperature are hard to come by in such appliances due to its lower cost(small heating element, material used; e.g thin stainless steel vs solid brass) I see, looks like I better keep to my french press for now and get a good manual grinder (in my case, i am planning to get Chesnut slim) for the beans until the budget is well enough for an espresso machine (exp 3605?),We went through using similar machine before.. it was fun for the journey.. looking back, perhaps can keep the machine for milk tea.. pressurized and a deep/portafilter.. make sense for a quick Chatramue.. |

QUOTE(ymeng85 @ Jun 1 2020, 12:38 PM) Actually you're my first fresh beans.. back in 2018.. Bought Ethiopian Yirgacheffe for V60 (+ brazilian beans for espresso).. Hooked oiii!! Btw, when i browse your e-shop there are no options for Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, but if search thru google "Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Red Cherry Natural", then the first result would be yours. Is it on my part? found out just now.. |

Once it's finished, we replace with something else so always keeping a huge variety for our customers Like in June, we are going to receive upwards of 20 different origins to offer The Yirg Red Cherry is a natural processed coffee. If you like the berry and fruit notes, look for any natural processed Ethiopian and you will get similiar flavors but of course with slightly different nuances maybe in the intensity or body So look around for natural processed coffees for something similiar |

Now it's a heaven for home brewers as promotions are going around wildly as business is indeed tough in this COVID seasonIn fact, for filter coffee drinker.. you may even opt for Ethiopia Keffa Bonga G1 for RM30(250g) and it's a 80+ score rating beans.. Am not the seller by the way.. Just spotted it being offered now. So go around and taste as many as you can - with an open mind. Develop your sensory and look for your favorites Now back to your point on Brazil Santos. Santos is a very generic volume coffee type because it's a mixed farm going through the Santos port of Brazil and therefore yes, it's hard to justify a high price at all. However, please also consider that flavors are also very dependent on the roast profile and we have tasted/sourced this coffee enough to know that it's decent enough that it doesn't need to roast dark. It's sufficiently sweet but slightly lacking on a clean cup quality but carries Brazil classic nutty/milk chocolate profile. A good starter coffee We also make sure we source all our coffees from current crop (2019/2020 harvest), measure on moisture meter for 10-12% water content (rejecting the coffee if otherwise) and keeping these coffees in a 24/7 aircon room to maintain flavors as much as possible. All this in a 2 person small scale business I'm not saying you have to support a biz just because we are small. By all means, there are many larger companies with economies of scale that are offering much much more competitive pricing at the moment so I am in fact encouraging everyone to take the chance to try around! p/s: An Ethiopian at RM30/250g from a reputable roaster is a super deal!! |
