Evening guys.
Anyone using NS Oscar 2? just got mine from Dankoff after 2 weeks held up by poslaju. Unfortunately received in really bad condition. Box was really soaking wet and disintegrating. Machine was dented a bit. But the most concerning thing is that the boiler seems to not heating up. I follow the provided quick guide, and waited for almost 40 minutes but the light for boiler still light up. The pump seems to be ok. Do you guys think the machine is defective or am i missing something? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(ymeng85 @ May 20 2020, 12:18 AM) The boiler/reservoir may not have been empty when packaged and the wet box could very likely be water from inside. In this case, you might worry about soaked internal electrical/electronic damages as well. Make sense!Anyways, assuming it survived, did you do the double fill? If delivered correctly to you, the boiler will need 1.5x amount of water from the reservoir to fill and initiate boil If that is already done, then 40mins is way too long. My Oscar 2 gets the temps up within 10-15mins or so I was puzzle a bit at first because it seems that the water is coming from the inside of the box itself. I wonder why they ship the machine with filled boiler. I follow the instruction provided and the pump did work and filled the boiler. May have to contact Dankoff. Thanx Ymeng. |

QUOTE(dwRK @ May 20 2020, 01:36 PM) ok. I'm also surprised no foam or extra protection inside... it looks to me like someone simply drop a 20kg display/demo unit into a paper box without proper draining n paddings they are never shipped wet from the factory...water could freeze in cold climate and crack the hx/boiler... so if there's water in the machine... someone here filled it up... dankoff better give you a new one QUOTE(4lt4ir @ May 20 2020, 05:19 PM) Quite upset at first, i thought of going to poslaju before ymeng point it out. But dankoff did a prompt reply and their rep already pick up the machine and going to replace it. Quite a feat considering i'm way down in johor. Thanx Guys, luckily still got my old machine. Need my caff fix |

QUOTE(sunami @ May 23 2020, 04:58 PM) wow... If you opt for KG89 for your grinder, do look up on youtube on how to mod it to grind a bit finer, this was my first grinder into coffee world. Still has it. But do consider small grinder like this aren't made for a lot of cups in small period of time. thanks bro..i will look into this... pls ignore my previous comment..i jst saw your latest comment... Btw guys, what kind of water do you use for machine? Tap? RO? Filtered? I heard that water in Malaysia is not that hard. I do backflush once a week but how often do we need to descale if for example we use tap water? This post has been edited by akay877: May 24 2020, 08:26 AM |

I'm on RO water for months way back when I started brewing coffee. Change to filtered water and the taste is really significant! I thought my amateur tongue wouldn't taste the different...
I did descaling with my first machine, following the instruction manual while not considering the water hardness (newbie). Luckily got a friend who work at starbuck told me about the water hardness. Never did a descaling round after that. Backflush everyday? If let say 1-2 cups / day, is it okay for once a week backflushing? |

QUOTE(ymeng85 @ Jun 1 2020, 12:38 PM) Actually you're my first fresh beans.. back in 2018.. Bought Ethiopian Yirgacheffe for V60 (+ brazilian beans for espresso).. Hooked oiii!! Btw, when i browse your e-shop there are no options for Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, but if search thru google "Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Red Cherry Natural", then the first result would be yours. Is it on my part? found out just now.. |

QUOTE(eltaria @ Apr 1 2021, 02:12 PM) Hi coffee gurus, I'm looking to get an expresso machine, budget around 2-3k and have narrowed it down to the following requirements. Boss, I do not have any suggestion for a machine, but just want to suggest to opt for a dedicated grinder instead of preground as freshly grinded beans will have the most impact in overall taste of your espresso. Must haves I believe these are the things that will actually have the most impact. 1) Double boilers/thermoblocks - Improve speed as I can froth while pulling the shot. 2) PID - Temperature consistency. 3) 58mm portafilter 4) Automatic, single/double shots selection, as it needs to be a bit user friendly for wifey, so fully manual on/off machines are out. 5) No built in grinder required, as buying powder pre-grinned. Good to haves 1) Hot water dispensers = I can save countertop space, as no need buy separate water heater. What would be the good options available to me? I was considering the Gemilai 3200D, at approximately RM 2.8k, but the size seems huge and will take up a lot of counter space. Units in consideration Currently leaning towards Gemilai 3200D - Overall looks decent, but HUGE size KD-210S2 or Carimali CM300 (same model I believe, just rebadged) - The size and features seems nice, but I read the portafilter is pressurized? I believe can replace? Out of consideration Seems like Milestos are all manual on/off machines Breville that meets criteria 1-4 is out of my budget. |

QUOTE(power911 @ Apr 3 2021, 01:05 AM) Hi guys. Forgive me if I'm a noob but hope everyone can help. Grinding for 700ml v60 manually can be a hassle indeed. 😁I'm a v60 drinker here. Always brew 700ml of coffee every morning for me and my dad. I've been enjoying my Timemore C2 grinder a lot. I enjoy doing it in the mornings but there are times I wish there's an electric equivalent of my Timemore C2 grinder for my dad to enjoy when I'm working. He rather skips the grinding and drinks some overly sweet 3 in 1 Nescafe which isn't really good imo. What is a good electric substitute for Timemore C2? And how much I will be expecting? I'm definitely interested in Baratza Encore like how every redditor recommended but looking at the price in shopee it's like omg 2-3k price. Don't think I can splurge a huge sum for a decent grinder. Any good recommendations for a cheaper alternative? What's the price I should be expecting out of a good electric grinder? Budget: no more than RM500? (Or convince me if 500 isn't enough) Burr type: I heard cone is superior but I don't mind a flat disc style Noise level: Who doesn't want a quiet grinder? But if cheap loud grinder can give decent results why not? (I can always slap some car soundproof dynamat to those cheapo plastic body if needed Ease of use: Definitely prefer something easy. I wouldn't mind some hassle like crazy static in the hopper if I can clean the container externally with water and a sponge. I'm eyeing at the Delonghi KG89 I recently saw in Harvey Norman and it looks pretty sleek for a little grinder. Reviews said it's no better than a blade grinder so I guess that's kinda out? Then shopee algorithms heard my voice and suggested to me Wellhome ZD-10T that sports conical burr grinder but I don't see any reviews out of it other than a brief overview. Guess I can only rely on experts here. Thanks in advance. I know its over your budget but do give eureka mignon filtro a consideration. Currently around 950 ish.. |

QUOTE(Eiren @ Dec 28 2021, 02:01 PM) hey guys, I'm looking to get an espresso machine and a grinder for home use. A lot of options for you buddy!Budget under RM10k for both machine + grinder. Preferably dual boiler, but open to single ones too. Mostly drink lattes in the afternoons and just espresso shots in the mornings. Currently looking at Breville Bes920, but havent really done in-depth research and compare with others yet. Any coffeeholics and experts here? Appreciate your advise Take a look at Eureka Mignon Single Dose Grinder if you mostly brew a single dose. But that grinder is selling like hot cakes! One of the criteria I took into account when getting a grinder is the noise level and that how i ended up getting the eureka mignon perfetto. (Doesn't wake the whole family when brewing early in the morning) As for the machine itself, Breville DB is not a bad choice I would say. Consider looking at Profitec Pro 300 also. As for me, I would suggest considering heat exchanger with lever action (i,e: Rocket Appartamento ). (Mod it with PID and you got a great top tier espresso making machine) |

QUOTE(calapia @ Dec 6 2021, 02:20 PM) hello fellow coffee lover... been trying different bean for my espresso from different roaster for few years and only now i thought why not test SOL since so many ppl give good review and the price is consider cheaper. So i bought a pack Single Origin ( Ethiopia Haile G1 ) and they score it 90+. Ya! I had similar experiences. I'd tried most of their top sales beans and the aroma is not overwhelming compared to other roasters (Previously my go to roaster was JWC, BEAM and Aitch but too exp to use as regular they pack fast and ship fast also. when i receive the pack, its fresh roasted based on the printed dates. the main difference i notice is....there is no fresh coffee aroma unlike all of my previous purchase.. even after i open it, it doesn't have those nice coffee aroma.. is this normal ? or for medium roast it doesn't have such aroma? i bought medium roast from other roaster before and it smell good.... but this...no smell.. is smell a good indicator of bean freshness? i did pull my espresso.... and it does manage to give me a good joe with lesser kick (i switch from dark to this medium) SOL https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Pro...10394637114141/ But still gonna be my go to roaster for now.. You can't beat the price man... |
