Hi all! Please help me decide between Dell Inspiron 15 7559  (i5 6300) vs Lenovo Y50 70 ( i7 4720 ). Thanks!
*
dell have slimmer build, better graphic card, quad core i5.
maybe you might want choose dell coz dell offer better service after sales than lenovo

lenovo still have haswell architecture i7 which is predecessor processor before skylake on dell.

Hi guys,

For student, which notebook model best for under budget RM2500?

Mostly surf internet, some media (youtube, videos, music) and light gaming only. Female user, not too heavy in weight.

Prefer Asus.

Thanks! rclxms.gif

try check this

Asus A456UF-WF032T i5-6200U, GT930m, 14" 4GB on BD, 1TB, W10

Asus K401UB-FR011T i5-6200U, GT940m, 14" FHD 4GB on BD, 1TB, W10, 1.65kg, no ODD*

if does not need optical disk drive. K401UB is much better.

Unless than person is a gorilla than the only choice would be one of those Panasonic Toughbook laptops or custom made laptops for rugged conditions used by people in the mining, geological and research sector.

The only downside other than the asking price would be these kind of laptops normally weight at least a few kilos and simply not a joy for the average person to transport around.

laugh.gif dell have those lineup for aggresive use too.. but.. good thing is.... if i not mistaken... can use in jungle

Hey guys,

Just wondering, which laptop should I get with a budget of less than RM2.5k?

Criteria:
- Light (maybe less than 2kg?)
- Fast (above 2.5GHz)
- Able to handle basic engineering software.

Hope for a reply from you guys.  rclxms.gif

Thanks!

if u no need optical disk drive. get this asus. less than 2kg....

what does 2.5Ghz means to u? just curious. sometimes. if u need response rate faster. its much better spend more on SSD. because current hdd is not as fast as u want. the processor speed for processing is usually refer to processing power. sometimes. even its mention 2.5ghz.. the speed is not until that speed. the trick lies on ssd brows.gif

Not sure how/what you intend to use it for and am assuming no heavy duty stuff. You could consider this for just over RM1.2k:

LENOVO 100S-14 : 14.0" 1366 x 768 / INTEL CELERON N3050(2M 2.16GHZ) / 4GB DDR3L / 128GB SSD / INTEL HD / W10 / 1 YEAR INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY / 2 CELL BATTERY.

Yes, Lenovo user here. I couldn't agree more on the speaker and the keyboard part. The design of the keyboard is really comfortable and ergonomic and the JBL speakers are really powerful. However, the cooling system is not as good as the V nitro. Lenovo aftersales service is getting worse, unlike the past 3 years where the service was excellent and fast. I once replaced the touchpad last year, took 3 weeks for that. sweat.gif

pandera999 sifu also did mention that Acer V nitro has a better graphic card on the other hand. Moreover, Acer has been working harder on the aftersales service since the end of last year. So, it is definitely more reliable brand than Lenovo.

If you are really interested in getting one laptop with good after sales service, you have to consider Dell.
However, Dell laptops are usually more than 2k. Consider the following model. It is around RM2.3k. It is very light and slim. 1.5kg only. Windows 8.1/10 have a faster boot up speed than Windows 7. So, no worries. biggrin.gif

Unless you really want a less than 10 seconds boot up speed, consider upgrade SSD. biggrin.gif

Hey DS_Legacy, Thanks.
Can I ask how is the service for Dell after the warranty ends? Thinking that I might not be always using my laptop, hmm...maybe it wouldn't have too much problem. haha. then what happen when the warranty ends?

If I would take out the good after sales service, what is the secondary choice you would suggest me?

try google more about dell xps 15 issues. even there is a lot of fix. but the issue is kinda annoying especially if someone is not that familiar with technical and software related with computer. nod.gif
