I am in the midst of deciding to get a new notebook for my wife. Her existing Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 11 (a core i3-380UM with 2Gb RAM running Win7) is getting aged with "hangs" occurring quite regularly. Although one consideration is to put it through a "major service" involving cleaning up the internals, a reformat of the HDD (change to SSD?) and changing the battery may extend the lifespan of the Edge 11. She uses it mainly for YouTube, streaming movies, playing FB games (Candy Crush etc), emails and simple Microsoft office stuff.
New replacements have been narrowed down to the following with two critical considerations, light (under <1.5kg) and good battery life (>6 hours):
1. Lenovo Ideapad 100S 14"- Celeron N3050, 4Gb RAM, 128Gb SSD, Win10 for under RM1.3k, or
2. Dell Inspiron 11 3000 (3157) 11.6" with touch and "Yoga" feature- Celeron N3050, 4Gb RAM, 500Gb 5400rpm HDD, Win10 for under RM2k, or (to "future-proff" it a bit)
3. Dell Inspiron 3000 (3158) - As above but with a Core i3-6100U instead for under RM2.6k.
Appreciate comments/inputs please.
