Next generation gpus is optimized to support next gen. VR gaming (min GTX980 for laptop). Red team is pushing VR gaming with more affordable pricing (ie Destop RX480~US199) , Green team will follow suit to remain competative.
It took around 4yrs for 28nm to 14/16nm gpus with historic perf/power efficiency boost.

Laptop recommendations

Budget = around 2k
Usage = medium gaming and surfing
Screen size = any
Brand = All brand can
Weight = any
Processor = prefer at least i5

No doubt RX480 will lush prices down
Good for us all
970/980 level at much more affordable prices
However...hopefully the mobile version is not too far from desktop

Gtx 1080 going to be in laptop too.. non m..

Both GTX1080 & GTX1070 with lower freq/voltage will land in laptops.
It wont be surprise red team RX480 will follow suit with more affordable price.

960 is enough. 1070 and 1080 wont be cheaper either. I bet it will be at 7k to 10k range so is that your budget

Hi, I've been seeing a lot of recommendations of Dell laptops, particularly Dell15-7559, and it seems that there is a general consensus that dell laptops can last longer. Are there any more dell laptop decommendations for RM3.5k and below? Product life span is a concern for me. Then secondly the specs. Mostly multimedia usage, and maybe light gaming. Other brand recommendations are also welcome Thanks!
And what,s the difference between buying dell laptop at retail store and from the online store?

at lenovo thread..seems a minor glitch on the cooling..but i think that should be fine
i am using external cooler..so..not much problem

I've seen the thread. hahah Seems like lenovo products a lot of glitches. How's yous so far? I'm actually looking at lenovo Ideapad 700, which seems to have the best specs for the price. Just that unsure of the product quality. hahah

my y580 is going strong..4 years
i think maybe due to software issue, but external coolers will help
but if possible get ssd too

Try remove ur external cooler fan lo... remember Lenovo use cheap thermal compound... not many user know when to repaste tat.. once ur thermal dried up.. very fast gg
