Hello sifus. I need a recommendation for a good 14" laptop around RM2.5k.

1. Preferred Brand: any
2. Budget: around 2.5k
3. Usage: work, MATLAB, Dota 2 optional
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14"
5. Others : lightweight <2kg, good battery life, cool+silent, SSD optional, thin profile optional

Thanks in advance!
*
Asus K401LB is good for your need
weight around 1.6kg, battery can last till 6 hours, cool enough to use on lap, thin profile
but it doesn't come with ssd, you might want to upgrade to ssd by yourself but bear in mind it will void your warranty if you upgrade by yourself..you should send to asus center service if you want to upgrade to ssd

can try take a look at Dell Inspiron 14 5459 for your requirement
have a good battery life that can last around 6 hours, comes with 6th gen processor and it's Dell which is has a very good after sales service in here unfortunately it doesn't come with ssd but you can try add the ssd by yourself.

QUOTE(ezzenlee @ Jan 12 2016, 03:19 PM)
Brand: any, good after sales service brand is preferred.
Budget: 2~2.5k
Usage: mainly for gaming, asisgnment and watch movie
Size: 14" preferred
Other preference: nvidia gpu, not interested on amd. Need laptop with quite decent build quality.

what kind of game do you play?
HP Pavilion 14-ab111TX comes with nvidia GT940m which is pretty good to play modern games at low-medium setting (depends on game too)
about HP after sales service im not quite sure whether their after sales sarvice are good or not hmm.gif

Hello, do you have recommendation for me?

QUOTE(franklooi96 @ Jan 13 2016, 08:57 PM)
Hello! Am posting here after using and loving the Lenovo Y480. Time to upgrade/change!

1. Preferred Brand: I'm fairly comfortable with Lenovo/Dell, but any brand with superb warranty policy/reliable tech support will do
2. Budget: <RM3000
3. Usage:
- Dual Boot (Windows + Ubuntu)
- BATTERY LIFE!
- Schoolwork consists of a fair bit of creative work and word processing.
- Back-lit keyboard will be awesome
- Good speakers (loud and clear)
- Keyboard/touchpad experience important
- I've quit gaming, unlikely to touch one so heavy graphic performance is not so important
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: <17"
5. Other preference:
- I'm thinking of IBM Lenovo Thinkpads, if possible please recommend specific model
- No touch screen if possible
- Build quality also important

for those requirements, i suggest Lenovo ThinkPad E550 for you
-outstanding battery life than can last up to 9 hours for web browsing
-as we all know the keyboard and trackpad from Thinkpad line are really good for those who concern about keyboard and trackpad experience
-build quality for this laptop also very good too
but the after sales service for Lenovo pretty sure cant fight with Dell but their after sales service still pretty decent though
and for the speakers im not quite sure whether this laptop can give you a loud and clear sound but this problem can be fixed with external speaker or bluetooth speaker.

But I'm putting everything into my external 1TB HDD. laugh.gif

How I wish I can afford 512GB SSD. My photos and those Adobe software eat up so much space. Don't even have a single game in my SSD. sweat.gif
