Has anyone got any info about the Toshiba SD370E? Expected launch date in Malaysia, price, etc?
Wonder how well it will compare to the current budget HDMI king Sony NS76H.....

QUOTE(sunauto @ May 4 2007, 01:18 AM) The backlight is replaceable for all LCD makes too, only Plasmas can't be repaired, LCDs are mostly using CCFLs so they're replaceable but probably cost a bomb lah. I think by then, LCDs will be dirt cheap, you wouldn't wanna think of replacing it b'coz the expected lifespan is around 10 to 20 years if you watch averagely 4 to 8 hours daily. I guess that's a pretty long time frame for LCDs, isn't it? Although it is rated to last that long, I am kind of worried about how much dimmer it will be after a few years. The LG I bought last month already doesn't look as bright as the first day. Don't get me wrong, it is still bright enough, just that the loss of brightness is noticeable after 1 month. Or could it be my eyes sort of got adjusted to the brightness and now unconciously appears to be less bright |

Any LCD out there that is better than Sony Bravia V series 46 inch @ its price range?
I watch Astro 90% of the time. Is there any diff between LCD and plasma. how about the reliability between plasma and LCD? Is plasma a better choice or LCD? then what brand? This post has been edited by billytong: May 5 2007, 10:16 PM |

Added on May 5, 2007, 10:10 pmBtw, the cheap LG 190H RM3xx HDMI player can actually upscale through component (yes you read correctly) to 720P & 1080i without any hacks. But the scaler quality isn't too good. This post has been edited by Ngto: May 5 2007, 10:11 PM |

QUOTE(neoardi @ May 6 2007, 06:19 PM) I played around with it in ESH SS2. I don't like it at all. Can see a lot of noise (due to digital, analog just see one black patch). So, that is why I did not venture into this model. |

QUOTE(vunjick1 @ May 7 2007, 01:37 AM) Just read from some Projector review... It seems like if you are using anything less than 50" TV/LCD/Plasma/Projector... you can hardly tell the difference between 480p,720p or 1080p. (meaning 480-720 & 720-1080, not 480-1080).But anything bigger than that, then you will see the difference. Of course, there is a lot of difference between analog and digital-in my opinion. |

QUOTE(timothyy @ May 7 2007, 03:44 PM) Sure la syiok... If for 32' or 40', it native panel has a resolution of 720p, I guess there won't be any difference wheter you feed it with 1080p or 1080i resolution because the panel has enough pixels to do 720p only unless you're talking about Samsung's M8 or Sony's Bravia X full HD panels. Frankly speaking, 1080p on a 40' ain't too different from 720p sources unless the screen is bigger beyond 40', the difference is just that the constrast and brightness are better because the M8 and Bravia X has a better contrast ratio and brightness plus the panel is of better quality, colours appear more vivid and the blacks produced are much deeper. When u are having 32" LCD... then whether you can tell the difference or not between 720 & 1080 or not... thats another question. |

Yup... its new gimmicks that make people think there is such improvement but basically they pay for other things instead. Like what you said... Contrast and brightness. In terms of pixels, I don't think you can tell the difference. |
