what is MSU?
my budget for mba is only 21-22K. Im going to study and pay for it on my own. Dont want to rely on parents . Thats the reason why im on a budget

UTM's MBA is considered quite good imho....it should be as good as UM imho. Subject wise, its almost the same as UM

Im in IT field.
to be precise in IT project management..so i dont want to waste my time with an Msc

I wanna do MBA straight coz it will definitely add value to me in a couple of years when i jump.

and another thing i dont wanna sound rude but if people or my future employer ask me what is this MSU, i cant answer..the professor who started this also started MMU MBA.

It just dont sound right. If UM did not have quota system, i would have done there. But too bad im not really exceptional that i can enter there. Plus they got this kind of treatment, i already not song. Later purposely fail me coz im non-malay mad.gif

So anyway, i think i decided to go with UTM.

how they fail u for enrolment as u r non malay...?
it is pity that we all pay 18k for UM MBA, they still pick ppl by quota...if uM pick the best candidate, then it will b another story...

I would suggest u to attend MSU preview even u decided UTM...just to listen what they offer which differ from others from the local MBA...like golf course, social skill in dinner or lunch...

do u ask them the quota is by race, bumi or non bumi or local and foreigners
or quota by your first degree background. I afraid it is what they mean. I attend their exhibition booth and they didnt tell a thing of quota in their selection. I will b pi** off if selection by race, but if education background, still acceptable to me

Hi mavric, just to correct a misconception. The fees for AGSM / MBS is about AUD 50k for the whole course duration of 16 - 20 months, not per year. That being said, I think Judge @ Cambridge offers very good ROI, and low fees too. Some MBAs from UK have really cheap fees - Warwick, Cranfield, Henley@Reading and respectable rankings. Point to note is that most rankings are either US or Euro/UK centric, the most unbiased is prob the QS and the EIU rankings. Do bear in mind that the cost of living in UK is much higher compared to AUS. And AGSM / MBS are ranked higher than all the UK unis except LBS & Judge @ Cambridge and in some ratings Warwick.

What did you score for your GMAT btw? We should have formed a study group. I didn't do too well too, aiming above 700, only got a 650. Hahah c'est la vie!

Hhmm..I've always thought AGSM/MBS cost AUD50k per year. May I know which source you referred to which indicated AGSM/MBS is ranked higher than Warwick etc? I intend to retake my GMAT. Sigh. How about you>?

Hi guys...

I am deciding between UniSA MBA (@ITD) & Strathclyde MBA (@CDC Mgt Centre).

I did some research and generally I found out that :-

1) UniSA (RM34k) ; Strathclyde (RM51k)

2) UniSA is in mont kiara, Strathclyde is in phileo damansara. (I live in PJ)

3) UniSA does not requires theses, therefore its much easier to complete on time, which according to many is the main reason many people have to extend their duration of studies in Strathclyde.

4) UniSA has this 2-3 wks study trip in Shanghai which is much more affordable. Strathclyde's option is to take the entire semester (2-3 months) in Glasgow.... on our own expenses.

5) However UniSA program in ITD is going to be terminated from July 09 onwards. Therefore if I enroll for the Feb intake, I defer any subject I only have ONE chance to retake the particular subject.

6) Regconition & accrediation wise, of course Strathclyde stands out with triple accredition and top 30 rank in FT. UniSA only have EQUIS and 5 star ranked in Australia.

Can anyone give me some suggestion or their opinion ? Or are there any better schools out there I dunno about ?
p/s : MBS and Nottingham are beyond my budget.

Most of the programs in the UK seem to require a dissertation/project work. Manchester/Nottingham/Strathcylde.

This is one of the things thats really put me off... Was very keen for the Manchester program, but I really dont have the time for prolonged thesis work.

Anyother programmes of the above caliber - minus the thesis. I guess, there are no Executive MBA programs in Malaysia ?

Yes indeed. Many people told me that the thesis is usually the main reason why many of them extended their MBA studies again and again, or even give up half way.

Does that means an Australian MBA program without requiring a thesis is a less risky option ? smile.gif

No doubt UniSA doesn't require thesis but in terms of individual and group assignments; it is really time consuming. If you are able to balance between work and studies, you should be fine.

You are required to do two modules per semester (3 months). Each module has 24 hours of class over a weekend.
Thurs & Fri - 6.30-10.30pm
Sat & Sun - 9am - 6pm

In other words, you will only have to attend 8 days of classes in every 3 months.

The two weeks of study conducted in China is held in Shanghai (1 week) and Beijing (1 week). UniSA has very good contacts in China allowing students to visit various government agencies, attend talks given by senior government officers and owners/MDs of multi-nationals in China. You will have the chance to network with UniSA MBA students from Adelaide, Singapore and Hong Kong as well as China MBA Students. Everything will be conducted in English.

There is also another option to attend the study tour in Denmark. You will need to check with ITD for more information.

In terms of accreditation, the program director indicates that UniSA is in the midst of obtaining accreditation from AMBA and AACSB which will allow them to have the triple crown accreditation. However, I'm not sure when will they receive that.

Nevertheless, you should really take into consideration on the quality of lecturers if you wish to enroll in ITD. Considering that the partnership will be terminated, ITD might not hire good lecturers. Check the class size as well.
