You need minimum 3yrs working experience and a GMAT. However, if i'm not mistaken, they can substitute that for an interview.

Refer to post #21, and yes if you're looking for the best alumni connection then it is the right place to go.

And with the advancement of islamic banking (all over the world) then it will get a very good dot in your CV with IIUM MBA. Remember the one who is teaching is the consultant for nearly all top uni / banks in Malaysia and worldwide

Dear all,
Hi, most of you are contemplating career change or advancement after the MBA. How about taking it just for fun or self satisfaction or just to know more about business? I am a self employed professional with no need/prospect of a career change. However, I am quite curious about the business aspect of my practice. I am also a small-time investor in the equity market. Is it worth spending the time and some money to get an MBA? hmm.gif

Just started my MBA at Strathclyde (Spore campus). Really had fun with the class work. I can say that you'll meet ppl from different backgrounds and cultures, on board we have a Nigerian, a Dutch and a pretty lady from Wales (and I guess 30% Malaysian).

In terms of mix of companies these ppl come from, mainly are from MNCs....e.g. Shell, 3M, phillip morris etc. But there're a few entrepreneurs as well.

But i would say most are in their mid-management level and some VPs.

FYI, Strathclyde MBA is well known for it's strategic management module.

let me know if you need to know more bout this course.

Personally most of the MBAs offered by Australian Unis here are overpriced. Simple reason being, most of them are from lower-ranking Aussie Unis (USQ, Ballarat, JCU, Sunshine Coast, Charles Sturt, Southern Cross etc). You can check this out at http://www.australian-universities.com/rankings/. Most of the Unis i mentioned are in the lowest quarter of the list!!!

That said, MBAs normally have their own rankings, independent of Uni rankings. You can check out some Aussie MBA rankings here: http://www.mbaguide.com.au/mba-rankings.php and http://www.afrboss.com.au/mbaschool/

From the two lists, we can see that the "best" Aussie MBAs available in Malaysia are: Uni of South Australia (from ITD KL), Curtin (Curtin S'wak & KLIUC) & RMIT (maybe not available here anymore). If I recall correctly, I know the fees are about RM32K for UNISA, RM30K for Curtin MBA in Sarawak, RM45-50K for Curtin MBA in KLIUC and around RM50K for RMIT MBA.

My personal opinion, go for USQ, USC, Ballarat, JCU MBAs if budget is a concern. That said, some of these still charge up to RM33k, which I say is too expensive in relation to their industry perceived value. Go for UNISA or Curtin Sarawak MBA if you can afford it. But If you can afford RM45-50K for the MBA, better to consider MBAs from Nottingham (not Nott.-Trent) or Strathclyde.

Alternatively you can check-out Oklahoma City University's MBA offred by Unity College. The fees is around RM32k (based on present exchange rate). Lecturers are supposed to be all from US. The problem is, it has no MBA accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS or AMBA). BUT it is an American MBA...

Actually most of the Aussie and UK MBAs available here don't have any accreditation too. I know UNISA MBA is EQUIS accredited, Curtin is AMBA accredited, Nottingham is AMBA accredited. Strathclyde is triple accredited (all three accreditations). The only other MBA in Malaysia with triple acrreditation is Manchester Business School's (RM80K around 2 years ago).

BTW, UM's MBA is AMBA accredited now.....

I just enrolled for MBA with Nottingham university. Pricey if anyone want to compare to those Australian Us. and its has AMBA accreditation.

Manchester too expensive. 2 years back i think its much lower than 80K. now its has gone up to about 93 K.

It was advertised in the papers sometime ago, there is also a link on the net if you search.... but seems to lead nowhere.

Added on September 23, 2008, 1:13 pmTheir MBA website doesn't mention AMBA too.... Maybe the AMBA accrediatation is no longer valid? LOL. Knowing Malaysian Uni's penchant for bragging about mediocrity, they surely would have featured AMBA accrediation prominently on the website.
