Hi guys...

I am deciding between UniSA MBA (@ITD) & Strathclyde MBA (@CDC Mgt Centre).

I did some research and generally I found out that :-

1) UniSA (RM34k) ; Strathclyde (RM51k)

2) UniSA is in mont kiara, Strathclyde is in phileo damansara. (I live in PJ)

3) UniSA does not requires theses, therefore its much easier to complete on time, which according to many is the main reason many people have to extend their duration of studies in Strathclyde.

4) UniSA has this 2-3 wks study trip in Shanghai which is much more affordable. Strathclyde's option is to take the entire semester (2-3 months) in Glasgow.... on our own expenses.

5) However UniSA program in ITD is going to be terminated from July 09 onwards. Therefore if I enroll for the Feb intake, I defer any subject I only have ONE chance to retake the particular subject.

6) Regconition & accrediation wise, of course Strathclyde stands out with triple accredition and top 30 rank in FT. UniSA only have EQUIS and 5 star ranked in Australia.
Can anyone give me some suggestion or their opinion ? Or are there any better schools out there I dunno about ?
p/s : MBS and Nottingham are beyond my budget.

Hi markcyk,
Are you sure that they will terminate the partnership with UniSA in July 09? Is it confirmed? Please verify this as I am currently considering enrolling myself into this . Many thanks!

UniSA will be terminating their entire offshore programme including Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong (excluding online MBA). They will have few more intakes till mid of next year. You still can enroll with ITD for the next few intakes but you need to follow the timetable strictly i.e. 2 modules per semester. Although the partnership is terminated, they will still carry on with all classes for the last intake. Therefore you must follow the suggested timetable strictly allowing you to complete it in 1.5 years (6 terms).

with all due respect
this should be an indicator how the international UK MBAs in Malaysia are worth pursuing.

Strathclyde (30th Global)- http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolranki...al-mba-rankings
Nottingham (76th Global) - http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolranki...al-mba-rankings

If you're in Harvard or Wharton MBA. Forget about working in M'sia & just grow your root in U.S.

I agree. The quota issue is preventing some really capable people to acquire education.

i'm in a dilemma choosing between a degree or a CeMBA being offer in Wawasan but then again i need to pass the Cemat test 1st? unsure.gif

Q's: hmm.gif
1) what are the differences between a degree & MBA?
2) how do Cemat works; subjective or objective base? any preparations to do? what are the topics in the paper?
3) how do you define a good MBA? more projects assignment or more theoretical test base?

i read from a site that CeMBA was designed, developed & implemented by:
Indira Gandhi National Open University, (IGNOU - India),
Bangladesh Open University (BOU - Bangladesh),
Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL - Sri Lanka), and
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU - Pakistan) and
writers from universities in Commonwealth countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

4) so how difference is it with the MBA? is CeMBA recognised in all commonwealth countries or just the few from the above?

my objective is something to help me to boost in my career path, will not be a help in my current very small company working now but for future.

1. MBA is a graduate degree. A "degree" can be undergraduate (=bachelor)/graduate (=master)/postgraduate (=doctorate) degree.

4. No employer cares about any difference between MBA and CeMBA. The CeMBA is championed by the Commonwelath of Learning (the education arm of the Group of Commonwealth countries), so it should be recognised in all commonwealth countries. Try google "CeMBA" and see the countries that offer it.

Even if you get MBA from Harvard, if your job performance sucks, or your boss thinks you have attitude problem, you still won't get far in your company. You get what I am trying to say?

i understand what you mean but my point here is how acceptable this CeMBA is, compare with MBA either in private or government sector because this is a rather new thing just 6 years & partner mostly with 3rd world countries universities? (from wikieducator)

what is the use of getting it if i can't even earn a job interview.
if i'm a Harvard MBA i am already 1 leg in, the other leg is just how i talk.
you get what i mean.

What about Unity College's MBA programmes : Ballarat & Wales Newport?

Please share your experiences or any feedback youve heard from your peers or friends?

Thanks.
