I have reached a stage in my career where I feel that I should upgrade myself to bring more value to my current/future employer. I am in construction field.

I came across Wawasan Open University where they offer MBA in Construction Management, anyone here has experience in this program or this university?

Test is not online. You have to come to the examination halls where the exam is held. The date is fixed and is informed in the early of semester. As for location, it is not inform yet. As for the project papers OR assignment, it must be done individually which carry 60% marks. Another 40% is for exam. The submission of assignment must be done via online by uploading into the student portal.

MBA does not guarantee a promotion or pay rise. You need to really think why you want an MBA.

If I can make a choice again, I will not go for MBA but rather professional qualification.

If you really make up your mind to proceed with MBA, choose the school wisely and get to know their Lecturer teaching method and qualification. I am studying now in a local Uni and in my 3rd semester now and so far finished about 10 subjects. Out of 10 lecturers, only 3 are really keep up to business environment changes and know what they are teaching and you can really apply what they tot into real practical world.

In addition, dealing with the Uni admin staff is another headache and challenging part and their way of doing things is just like typical government agencies.

The way my Uni conduct the MBA is nothing difference from undergraduate, I am not sure about others but I would encourage you choose the Uni wisely before jumping into decision.

Just got an offer for Sunway-Lancaster MBA, September 2019 intake.

Appreciate anyone who has completed the programme can give advice and opinion. Did you able to balance the commitments in work and personal life with the assignments and tests in the programme?

Thanks!

Hi, not too sure if this is the correct place to ask this... but here goes, I plan to do a masters in Malaysia but working in Singapore for cost saving purposes. My first choice is JB due to proximity or online courses would be great too. Anyone has tried that before? I want to know which college/uni provide such programme without much needed hassle of attending classes in JB (often). Or any college/uni marketing people can reply? I would love to hear from you.

ps. it has to be recognise by the SG government of course.

Thanks

hi you brought me to write directly because your thoughts are exactly my question.

Which professional qualification would you recommend someone to apply operational management and business improvement because this is the main reason for my thinking of doing MBA
Maybe PMP or CSM? I want as much as possible your real life input because i plan to apply job in malaysia soon as my work mostly experience gained outside MY

Thank you so much for your time and your honest thoughts

Hi - is anyone interested to buy GMAT and admissions prep material? I scored 710 (90th percentile) on the test last year and got admitted to a top M7 b-school in the US.

I'm letting the following books go:

- 2018 GMAT Official Guide + Quant Review and Verbal Review books
- Manhattan Guide books (all Quant and Verbal books + Roadmap)
- Powerscore Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension

- MBA Game Plan
- MBA Admissions Guide

All books are unmarked and in good condition. The Manhattan books includes online access to papers and quizzes too. Giving away the whole bundle for an attractive price. PM me if interested and I can share more.

good going! but still hail both the windy city schools tongue.gif

to answer others on this thread ..the university name matters a lot in your real VALUE.
if just want paper, then choose the cheapest and fastest

but if want to get best salary and job, in MY currently ASB is head and shoulders above the rest. Guarantee to get a RM20-35k after finishing your MBA from here. Need to invest about RM250k and 1.5years time

Technically, as long as the course is recognised by Malaysia Qualification Agency, it is recognised by the Singapore Government. However, practically, in Singapore, there is a perception that Malaysian qualifications are inferior to Singapore qualifications. And frankly speaking, as NUS and NTU were ranked 11 in 2019 by QS Universities World Ranking, they have a point. It would be far better if you could study for a professional program in your line of work which is recognised internationally. That way, your professional qualification is pegged at international level and is far more acceptable in Singapore.

I know from experience that HR managers tend to rank qualifications for Malaysians in this order:

1. Singapore Qualifications;
2. Overseas universities, in particular from Western Countries in the following manner: UK, USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, although the last two are probably interchangeable;
3. Malaysia Qualifications.
