Dont forget that the Lancaster MBA program offered by Sunway differs slightly from the MBA offered in Lankaster. The program here in Malaysia isnt triple accredited. Sunway misleads ppl into thinking that the program is triple accedited.

Anyway the best MBA program in the region is the INSEAD MBA offered in Singapore. But it also costs a bomb.
*
Hi, how do you come to conclusion that the triple accreditation claim by Sunway is fallacy?

Maybe you should email him and ask him to check the forum if you want him to reply smile.gif

The only reason why he responded here previously is because I inquired about the triple accreditation claim and told him about this thread.

Key differences between MBA and Executive MBA programs in general:

Also keep in mind the specialisation of the MBA you intend to take. Modules can be similar but content will differ:

Nah ive got my answer even before this. I just need him to provide a simple yes or no answer to the 2 queries. Simple enough.

If you want him to reply, I guess you need to get him to this thread in the first place smile.gif

The highest ranked MBA program in Malaysia currently is Lancaster MBA program which is conducted in collaboration with Sunway. Second best is Strathclyde.

I finally joined the Lancaster University MBA program.
As mentioned by 1 of the forumer, yes this is indeed NOT an Executive MBA.
Though it doesn't really matter to me whether it is a normal traditional MBA or Executive MBA, I still believe the value of having an MBA education.

So anyway, the classes timetable is quite convenient for those with full time job. The schedule is usually 7-10pm weekday and 9-6pm weekend. Facilities is OK. You get to use Sunway & Monash library and facilities. Food are provided (Breakfast, Lunch, Tea-breaks, Dinner). Classes are mostly held in the Graduate Center building.

This batch quite a lot people (over 30+) and a lot from the medical line (doctor or pharmacist) and some from IT and Sales. I guess most are non-management/economy/finance background.

My class will start weeks from now, very anxious to meet my future coursemates smile.gif

The presumption made here is MBA seekers are looking for career enhancement / advancement. Certainly the "academic" perspective is secondary as many would not consider themselves to join academic profession.

Hence, the recognition of any government agency is also deemed secondary.

Chill out guys. It is just matter of perspective and there's no one right answer on whether academic or not.

On one hand, executive degrees are certainly deemed non academic and cannot be used as part of your academic qualification for the next degree.

However on the other hand, it is true that EMBA is common and highly sought after in western countries for one reason, time.

On another point, non MQA or MQA accreditation programme is again another subjective measurement of the recognition of a certification. Like it or not, MQA only governs local programmes, for the obvious reason - Malaysia Qualification Agency.

So let lowyat forumer make their decisions based on their needs. I don't see why we need to come to one answer.

UUM-KL MBA is accredited with AMBA,
but it is not very popular here, CMIIW

imho go for a full research based master and PhD if you are getting yourself prepared for academic line.

it is pointless if you do not produce journal papers and only participate in taught courses.

*
Do you have a bachelor degree? If yes, what's your CGPA?

If no, there's something called Industrial PhD that is offered by selected institution.

You can check it out.

Conclusion
- seems like my first MBA subject is screwed. i do not think i can pass the exam because i dont understand a thing, and i definitely cannot reproduce the 4 thousand words of essay because apparently i am asked to STRICTLY ONLY use the framework taught and not reflect my own experience in the essay.
- sounds like an SPM essay for me. fine i will just do whatever it takes to pass the subject

Stop sulking, start reading the shortlisted journal articles, skim through the textbook and revise the slides doh.gif

One thing you must do is to read the assessment instruction as it is different from what you said.

Hi OxDoc and Jamie9969,

I agree with you that it should not be a norm for hiding feedbacks and etc, no matter how ugly or beautiful those feedbacks are. In fact, transparency should be the pursuit of business and let alone an MBA course that produce business leader.

So...please don't delete your feedback on Sunway/Lancaster MBA. You are entitle to your opinion as long as those are fact based and not ill intention. I agree with you on some of the points, especially on the class size, logical level modelling and delivery style for that particular module. At the same time, I also encourage you to feedback to the school so that they do something about it, or should do something about it.

As for the sinister hint that about sunk cost by MBA candidates, again please feedback based on facts and not ill intention. I am following MBA course with Sunway/Lancaster and I can states that for most of my fellow course mate, learning and becoming better is our primary aim so we welcome feedback.

I don't see the necessity to continue with this discussion unless OxDoc decided to reinstate his/her comment.

Hi bro,

Thank you for your advise. You are telling the same thing like my MD told me before. He suggest me to strength my soft skills as I am always at the front line.  He also share me the importance of the soft skills apply to my job while facing the customer. Is MBA a good choice to grow my soft skills set? My sister (she was holding a PHD in Economy) also told me that MBA required the student "think and see the things" from different dimension. Is that true?
*
MBA may allow you to look and think from different dimension. However, it doesn't take a MBA to do so too.

Learning should be a continuous effort and I strongly recommend you to start with simple reading daily on articles from HBR, Economists and FT perhaps and then see whether you are incline towards these content or not.

Are there any good options for those without degree to pursue an MBA? 16 years working experience. I believe the apel test is mandatory though I don't particularly agree with it.
*
imho apel is a good measurement of accepting a student for a master's degree without a first degree.

however, I'm unsure whether apel is in effect for all institutions at this point of time.

nevertheless, you may skip apel by taking an external MBA programme.
