For the entry requirements, does it necessary to have a degree holder in related field to study MBA? Can someone with just working experience in related field to study MBA?

if u want to take MBA with foreign institute whcih is famous, they have more stringent requirements. one of it is you must have written approval from your current superior / reporting manager / boss , to allow you to join this MBA course.

You can try other institution. As I understand APEL does not specify minimum education qualification.

---

Unfortunately, they do now, https://www2.mqa.gov.my/APEL/APEL_A/CheckDaftar.cfm

You will need to get an equivalent qualification first. Do consult other institutions and see what are the available options for you.

Hi, I just recently applied for the September intake MBA course at University of Malaya and it is my 1st time applying for a Masters course.
So, I am really nervous about the final outcome and I have a question.

Can any UM alumni enlighten me on how long did you have to wait for the results of your submitted application?
Thanks to whoever is willing to take their time to reply to this post.

Sit back & relax. UM likely needs you more than you need it because its bar is pretty low. The fact that you applied means you’re convinced that you met the requirements. There’s no need to be nervous if you did not lie to yourself.

To my current understanding, most of our postgraduate courses are not overly competitive. As long as you meet the minimum qualification, it is likely you will get admitted. There are many factors to it, e.g. enrollment target, revenue generation.

I used to have a friend who did her MBA in UM. I can't speak on her behalf though as we didn't go deep in our conversation on UM. I didn't do mine in UM smile.gif

Let's see whether any forumer is a UM MBA grad smile.gif

Would be nice to share specifically your online MBA program, for workers who cannot spare even weekends due to familial commitments etc
I for one am interested in the shortest and online delivery program, price is not really important as the convenience would far outweigh the price.

Two years of working now, my plan was to enroll in UM MBA after three years of working (their requirement).

But after all this Covid thing, I'm not so sure anymore. Class based will not be feasible, but I'm not really interested in online learning.

has anyone here mentioned about ASB? The Asia School of Business, with the collaboration between Bank Negara Malaysia and MIT Sloan School of Management.

i am not sure how is their teaching style now due to the pandemic, but i know the lecturers r from MIT.

there r some scholarships but i am now not sure how lucrative they are. i remember they were giving like full scholarship at the beginning of their establishment.

you all can have a look at the site: https://asb.edu.my/

*i am not promoting this faculty in any ways. it's just i have acquaintances studied here and they seem to enjoy their experience in the school.

it is highly prestigious for sure and it would set you back about RM300k all in all.

This is not including your lost income for the duration of study.

The positive is you would probably get a job paying about RM25-40k immediately upon graduating - can you please confirm this specific point from your friends who studied there? It is pointless if they enjoyed their learning experience to not see this kind of salary especially if they paid for the MBA through their own pockets.

It is worth mentioning that the ASB MBA will never be fully online due to its quality control and ranking requirements.
